Never again with Minisforum. Have a um790 pro. After a year and a half, 2 usb ports failed and regular blue screens. Minisforum support was unresponsive.

Here's my personal perspective. Seen too many UM790 Pro mPCs on the diagnostics bench in front of me to be an advocate, notably as a long-term investment. It's a much older platform, with little to no innovation or improvements. The AI-X1 on the other hand, after seeing my first one for the first ti

I bought a minisforum UM790 Pro exactly a year ago and it only lasted 3 months. Overnight it stopped working and I couldn't get it to work again and the minisforum support was really crap and they didn't make my warranty valid because here in Mexico they don't have support; So $13,000 Mexican pesos

That's the only thing, being 2 years old. Meigao/Minisforum are on their second replacement. After having problems with the UM780/UM790 Venus series, they moved on to their slightly revised UM Plus/Slim generation, which is being phased out for AI X1 as they finish 2025. From a PC repair perspective

The UM790 Pro which is an older Meigao (OEM) platform, which hasn't aged well for some owners compared to similar Chi-NUC brands, notably once it came down to Minisforum customer service & warranty. Have an individual I recently helped with their UM790 (intermittent HDMI out) who was finally allowed

It depends on cost. All comes down to risk. This late in 2025 I question why someone is selling a second hand UM790 as barebones. Hopefully it would be better than the Minisforum Refurbished horror stories I've read so much about. Bottom line if it is being sold as-is I'd say "no".

Interesting. Different from what I was given. Anyway, it was a lot easier facilitating the return through Amazon. Corresponding with China at all odd hours was getting exhausting. From my own personal experience and my partner's experience, the mini PCs don't have the longevity that the standard tow

Something like the MINISFORUM Venus UM790 Pro is probably what you're leaning towards, but beware the longevity of those lower tier mini pcs are ass. Unless you want the one from ROG that's like $2000 then go for that but at that point just buy a full rig and stream it to the living room instead
