Why people don't use Linux

Like windows, my Microsoft surface laptop 7 didnt work well, every windows update kept failing, it took months before I managed to fix it by downloading an iso and repairing corrupted system files.

Best Laptop Business/Finance Major

I would recommend the Microsoft surface laptop. Our business school does not recommend Apple computers because certain programs are not compatible with Apple. Pretty sure 9/10 companies also use Windows software so your son would be better off getting used to their ecosystem.

Anyone using those new Qualcomm ARM laptops? Worth it?

I've been using the Microsoft Surface Laptop 7 which comes with the Snapdragon chip (X Elite), for almost a year now. For your use case, it will be perfect. The performance is also really good, flies through everything I use it for. App compatibility is also drastically improving every day. Photosho

New Microsoft Surface for Business PCs pair Panther Lake chips with as little as 8GB of RAM — 8GB 13-inch Surface Laptop goes light on memory but still starts at $1,299

Surface largely exists as a boutique flagship product meant to reshape consumer perception of the Windows ecosystem, particularly around lifestyle branding. Largely if we ignore the Surface RT, Surface Go, Surface Laptop Go, Surface Laptop SE lines etc. Microsoft created an entire version of Windows

Best laptop for finance?

You can get a refurbished Microsoft Surface Laptop for ~$500 on Amazon. They're great, and you'll have the Windows ecosystem which allows you to use stuff like PowerBI. Didn't do finance, but ive seen a lot of chatter on here about laptops throughout my degree

Newest iWork release shows a paradigm-shift in Apple and it's important to act on it.

I have a Microsoft Surface laptop now. It's not my daily driver, but I actually love it, and Windows 11 is actually very good. The ads and nags annoy me, but if I'm going to have to deal with those no matter what... why am I using the minority OS? Instantly lost me there. MacOS might be enshittifyin

Should I install Linux?

Another thing is, it can't update to Windows 11. Yes, might as well keep it with an OS that still gets security patches >I don't have any knowledge about Linux, I've only heard that it does certain things better than Windows. All the things you mentioned you should be able to do with any linux distr

By reflex, I take everything available through update manager.

Well, Windows Primetime was Windwos 7 and Windows 10, which you’ve never Experience if you left the OS in 98. If Microsoft just kept things as they were with these 2 OS and just didn’t try to steal your data, install bloat/malware and just kept their stupid AI shit optional, a lot more people wouldn

What laptop do recommend and why?

Microsoft surface laptop if you want to stick with windows. If you know for a fact your classes require you to use software that is ONLY available for WindowsOS then it’s just easier to get a windows laptop. Otherwise you will have to run a Remote Desktop or something like that from a MacBook to get

laptop recs

Microsoft surface pro I have a regular 2025 microsoft surface laptop and a standard model iPad but truly wish I got the surface pro, which is basically the combination of the two. Allows for more versatile use on one device, uses Windows, and you don’t have to lug around 2 heavy devices everyday.
