Recommendation for a cheap laptop with long lasting battery life
I would say, their general battery strength. A full charge can hardly last you more than 6 hours if screen is kept on throughout. Arguably, my experiences were with Microsoft surface go 3 (a portable tablet/pc hence understandable for its shit battery life). I expected more from a Microsoft Surface

CachyOS + COSMIC DE
Cosmic doesn't have a way (that i could find) to have an on-screen keyboard on login. That's the only deal breaker or i'd be running cosmic. Can't live without it on a tablet (Asus Z13 flow & surface go 3)

Surface Go 2 Linux
I got a secondhand GO 2 a few months back, and it's been fine (much better than the Go 3 I have, which has a bunch of annoying glitches that haven't been resolved over the few years I've had it). To answer your questions: I nuked Windows immediately after verifying the system started up and worked,

Engineering laptops
The tech loan program is great for some students! It does not have laptops though and the tablets are not up to spec for engineering, as OP is asking about. Like, the Surface Go 3 is lightweight and ideal for taking notes, but with only two cores and max 8 GB RAM, it’s not going to be great for the

Fixing that dead tablet i had in the drawer was the best idea Ive ever had
What happened when you tried to install Windows 11? I have a Surface Laptop Go 3 that I use for goofing around with; currently it has either Arch or Debian on it. (I think the latter.) Anyhow, I tried installing Windows 11 using a USB that I made using Microsoft's Media Creation Tool. When it got to

i am still using the most hated windows
8.1 was... eh. granted, I wasn't really the oldest when I did get the chance to use it, and I quickly got ClassicShell to bring back the start menu, but in hindsight? Really well optimised compared to modern Windows. The laptop I had 8.1 on was a potato with a dual-core Celeron (I think N-series), b

Good ways to play VN portably without a Switch
I used a surface go 2 for a long time just to read pc vn like higurashi and others. They work great for this purpose smallish tablet you can take to bed with you, decent battery life and doesn't drain all that much when in sleep mode and they go for cheap now too on ebay. Just make sure you don't ge

SGO 1/2/3 users, any suspend battery drain?
Microsoft's fault. Surface Go 3 doesn't support deep sleep, so just turn of your device when you don't use it. Though I did notice better battery life on Debian compared to Fedora.

PC Lobotomy
Modern lower-end CPUs are just those higher end CPUs but some parts weren't working so they disabled them in the factory. Even the lower end Ryzen CPUs are rated for 65w of power draw and have a max core temperature of 95c before thermal throttling. But speaking from experience, even like 5w of power

Tim Cook called Surface detachable touch design “compromised” and “confusing”, now set to copy it
Surface Go 3 is one of the worst computers I've ever owned. And I say this as a professional certified apple hater, with over 15 international recognitions in competitive macos hate. Unfortunately if anybody can pull off a truly portable tablet PC, it's Apple as long as they say no the iPadOS fanati
