There are so many great options in the $800-1000 range (especially if you're open to second-hand purchases), that it's hard to say definitively that the 109 Pro is "the one". If it's not a MacBook I doubt your pc outputs very much via the aux on your mobo or the front one if it's there. Both my HD 660s2 and meze 109 pro had similar issues until I used a headphone amp on my computer

Maybe just get the Meze 109 Pro and save something for the DAC/AMP later. It's pretty easy to power and only has 40 ohms, so you can easily run it on the PS5. I'm currently using the Meze 109 Pro with the ZH 3; they sound really fantastic. You can use them for anything, whether it's music, gaming or movies.

I wouldn't say "better hit", but will say that I get a different sound signature with tubes vs my SS amp. Just like you stated, it is a smoother tone. The thing I find with tubes is that you need the correct headphone to pair with it. Example, I hate the sound of the Meze 109 Pro paired with the tub
