Given budget, what espresso machine/grinder would you put together? [$4000]
Profitec RIDE or MOVE depending on if you want an e61 group or not. Then I’d get mahlkonig x64 if you like single dosing or x54 if you want a hopper.

IMS precision basket w/ light roast — dialing in is hard
Yep, I actually just got a light roast ethiopia. Perhaps adjust the grinding in smaller increments. Or, keep the grind the same, but reduce the quantity in the basket (e.g 16g). For my coffee, I noticed it’s fairly ok with this receipe: 16g in, 32-33g out, 23-34s. I’m using a 16g basket and the grin

Should I buy Mahlkonig X64 SD or wait [nobudget]
If retention is your main deal breaker with the eureka you should wait and make space for the mazzer philos. While the mahlkonig is a beautiful machine the philos is engineered for zero retention single dosing and offer superior grind clarity, especially if you like lighter roasts. The x54 is more o

Noobie needs help
I live in Melbourne Australia, where we typically have very high quality coffee. I have a gaggia and just got a mahlkonig x54 grinder. I just finished drinking my coffee then whilst thinking how bloody good it is that I can have this high quality coffee at home.

Best home espresso machine and grinder
Try r/espresso because that one is more focused on home espresso. I saw your comment about $2k being the outside of your budget. I’m very happy with the profitec go which is just around $1,200 usd now, but it’s a single boiler, so you need to understand the limitations of different boiler types like

Soon-to-be La Marzocco Club Member
I came from several other machines with my last being the Rocket Appartmento. I got the Micra because space was a huge factor living in NYC. I already had grinders, Niche Zero and a Mahlkonig x54 - combined the grinder set up was good. But I’m itching for a new one either a Mahlkonig E64 or a Mazzer

New grinder 2025? [$1000]
It doesn't get a lot of love here, but I'll submit the Mahlkonig X54 -- I've had one for the last two years and it definitely nails the more medium/dark stuff that I throw at it. I wish it gave a little more sweetness on lighter coffees, but if you're not interested in those it's a solid pick. Super

Small, light roast beans – no bueno
Light roasted beans are very hard and not all grinders are fully capable to grind them for espressos. This is one of the reasons why I stopped using my Breville Barista Touch’s internal grinder and use a Mahlkonig X54. Grinding them coarser might solve your issue, but it may also mean that you won’t

So many problematic grinders - help finding the right one? [$400]
Yes the df is great for the price and can have the burrs swapped. If you are looking at under 800 you have options. I agree with you on the Niche its good but pricey with tariffs. Some may say the femobook but I am not sold on it. If its espresso you want and not an all in one grinder I would look a

Need help with a quote
80 a aday is low volume, I would seriously consider a one group machine that you can plumb in, a san remo you would do the job for instance next to à la marzocco linea mini, Victoria arduino also has a one group commercial machine I believe. scale up to another one or a two group when it’s going wel
