Usability of a T450 as a laptop in 2026

Upgrade the RAM to 16gb, upgrade the HDD to an SSD and install Linux Mint (easy to do, using a program called "Rufus" to format a USB stick) and the machine will fairly scream. It won't be a good choice for (say) editing films, but for most uses (Chrome browser, word processing, watching movies, pla

I saw this guy talking about that thinkpad can offer you many upgradable parts in older models are he fr?

Hell, I'm using a ThinkPad Yoga 12 I got for $80 USD cheap off ebay. Sure it's soldered memory, but slap in a 1tb hard drive and it works. ... It's a glorified type writer running Fedora but it does in fact work. lol

I know nothing of computers & need help buying one

I would venture to say that if that MacBook has an Intel processor, you could install Linux on it and it will run faster than it is currently and with an up to date operating system. You may not need to spend any money. But, a good thinkpad, as others have mentioned is the T14 Gen 1 or 2 ThinkPad. I

But I also still rock a ThinkPad Yoga 12 (S1 Yoga) fo

What's the WORST ThinkPad ever?

When I was in the market for a thinkpad yoga 12/S1 Yoga, the very first one I bought had this track pad and it SUCKED. Irredeemably so. Returned it to seller and got a refurbished one with the good track pad from newegg. Cost me about $100 more but it was worth it to me to buy it like that OOB
