I'm a little unclear about what you're looking for. As far as I'm aware, only the most recent few generations of ThinkPad (T14 gen 5 or newer, P14s gen 5 or newer, etc.) can come with an 8th gen or newer Ryzen processor. They are very likely not available within the price range you give. Then you me

I’d probably discount the T480 - it’s getting up there in age with many spares now unavailable. X395/T495 aren’t too bad on the lower end, depending on price they might be OK.. Option 13 depending on price might also work out (10nm core and Xe iGPU would be good to have). 17 would work well in lieu

You definitely know more than I do as far as Linux is concerned. I really just need to focus on learning more about the terminal. Our first computer was a 486 running DOS and I could command prompt with the best of them even as a young kid, but I know like 4 things as far as terminal commands. X230

Macbook Pro circa 2016-17 and install Linux (unless you need Mac OS then OpenCore Os works). Those machines have great screens, are solid and you can fix some of the internals yourself, as everything wasn't soldered on. And hardware back then was made to last much more than recent things. But honest

Depends where you live. I can get a Macbook Neo for 700€ from a local store.. For Framework 12 you mentioned, min specced btw, it's going to cost me 986€ and that is without taxes and duties which pushes it well over 1000€ for me. FW has never been a good choice for me, although neither has Mac as I

Yes, a nice machine. You don't mention the display, double check it's an IPS FHD display, and not the really poor 1366x768 TN display, that was an option. X395 review here. Its direct replacement, the X13 Gen 1 AMD, is a fair bit more powerful, as is the equally portable T14s G1 AMD, but I doubt you

AMD in the X395 is more capable than the Intel 8th Gen in the X390, especially graphics, but the X13 Gen 1 AMD, T14s G1 AMD from the following year, saw a significant jump in performance, from 4 Core 8 Thread to 6C/12T and 8C/16T. Graphics are also far stronger. T14s G1, is about an inch wider, bein

Get whatever refurbished T/P/X series ThinkPad you can find. Focus on as much CPU and RAM you can afford. I just got a very well specced X395 for 220$. I'll be running Debian on it. If you plan on using windows, make sure to check which ones are eligible for windows 11. The one you listed has a terr

A ThinkPad for € 200 with dual RAM slots, dual drive support, and T series build quality, does not exist, when you exclude a T480. You’ll need to compromise somewhere. Between T480 and T14 G5, there are no T series with dual open RAM slots. T14 Gen 1 AMD can support a second 2242 NVMe drive, via its
