TBH I'm liking Macs more and more. My company is a remote, dispersed consultancy and allows users to choose Apple or Lenovo. First, it's cheaper to get a Macbook Air 24GB than a roughly-equivalent Lenovo X1 Carbon core i7 32GB. The Air holds up better to the consultants' constant travel. The Air has

Linux 7.3 Will Treat Intel Nova Lake S Graphics As Stable

Just as a datapoint to anyone wondering what this actually means.... my current laptop is X1 Carbon Gen13, which has a Lunar Lake CPU/GPU. It was declared stable in the xe driver in May 2024. Just a few days ago, that is in July 2026, there appeared finally a patch (that is merged upstream but not i

2nd-hand X1 Carbon Gen 9 had a non-working USB-C port, didn't expect to see this

There is a reason why Lenovo is selling certified refurbished X1 Carbon Gen 9 with high spec for dirt cheap at the moment. If it sounds to be good to be true… There is a inherent issue with gen 9 unfortunately so they had a huge return back to base from corporate rerun.

Unhappy X1(G9) owner, want some advice downgrading

4k display kills your battery. Avoid X1 Carbon if you don't like soft touch coating. Some other models might have a soft touch as well, so look that up before buying. I'd go with the same CPU you had, 1185g7 is a good option on a budget. Or AMD 6650u, 6850u are still powerful enough, battery efficie

X9 vs X1 Carbon - Pricing

I'd go for T14, maybe t14s or X9 - the X1 Carbon always was "expensive, but cool and slow", it was never about being a good deal I also hate to say it, but if you are not overly attached windows/linux, just get a macbook. Even refurbished M4 Pro or something like that will be miles ahead in terms of

Some mfs said "E series = E-Waste"

Idk i think the the recent-ish E and L series are underrated. In canada, browsing various marketplaces I could only find a t14 gen 1 or 2 (forgot which gen) with only an intel i5 10th gen when I could sometimes rarely find an eleventh gen. Whereas I found an L14 Gen 3 for $237 CAD with a 12th gen i3

MacBook Air M1 is the best purchase I have ever made

The X1 Carbons and T series feel nice (especially recent ones) but they're not a solid piece of metal so they're always going to have some creak compared to a MacBook. But the hinges are very solid and the keyboard praise is real. There are a lot of other compromises though compared to a MacBook. Wi

Switched from M2 Air to the X1 Carbon 13th Gen. Some first impressions

_UPDATE 2: I returned it. The coil whine was driving me mad. It was not only during load but it also appeared during less stressfull scenarios like browsing and office work :/ Total no go for me. You can find a youtube link in this post. Then there was the issue with the speakers doing a "plop" soun

Must be doing something right

Factory defect, with a sleepstate issue, units when shut down for a few days or more would no longer POST or charge. CMOS battery was/is fully charged, requiring a pin-hole reset to temporarily resolve the issue. Solution is board replacement, this issue was prevalent in both the X1 Carbon Gen 9 and
