Unhappy X1(G9) owner, want some advice downgrading

4k display kills your battery. Avoid X1 Carbon if you don't like soft touch coating. Some other models might have a soft touch as well, so look that up before buying. I'd go with the same CPU you had, 1185g7 is a good option on a budget. Or AMD 6650u, 6850u are still powerful enough, battery efficie

Switching from M1 Pro to used X1 Carbon for personal use — will an i5-1235U keep up with a full stack dev workload on Linux?

  • Is the i5-1235U going to bottleneck me noticeably for this kind of workload? No, but it's the least efficient processor generation that was ever released under the "core i" marketing umbrella. So battery life isn't good compared to the machines older or younger than it. - Would you go Gen 10 i5 or s

X9 vs X1 Carbon - Pricing

I'd go for T14, maybe t14s or X9 - the X1 Carbon always was "expensive, but cool and slow", it was never about being a good deal I also hate to say it, but if you are not overly attached windows/linux, just get a macbook. Even refurbished M4 Pro or something like that will be miles ahead in terms of

Rant about shitty laptops

In most firms it depends on the partner you are aligned to. Some just don't care if people have trash tier laptops. Some don't understand that an ultra-light X1C is truly shit if you need to do any kind work that requires performance ("The laptop was expensive and does everything I need - so it sure

Ok Lenovo USA, where are the Intel Panther Lake laptops?

X1 Carbon Gen 14 is released for a week or so in US, but with garbage last-gen CPU options and no Panther Lake in sight. Huh? I really do not know what you mean. The X1 Carbon Gen 14 is not available with last-gen CPUs. All the available options for it are Panther Lake CPUs.

Totally frustrating experience.

What was your issue with the X1C? Also when you say online where do you mean? This sub? Cause, people will blindly recommend the AMD versions of machines cause it is fashionable to bash Intel nowadays (I'm not saying they don't deserve it but as with all internet discourse it goes overboard). The pr

Okay guys, what did I miss?

It's not about OS features for me, I can make any of preferred ones from one OS to another work somehow with 3rd party apps or adjust to it. What I missed out on since M1 came out was the hardware effiency and the battery life. Nothing from other manufacturers can compete with the macbook air in the

T14 Gen 2 Core i7 (11th Gen) or X1 Carbon i7 (10th gen)?

Go for the T14 Gen 2 honestly. Yeah the X1 is cheaper and lighter but 8th gen memory vs 11th gen with Iris Xe is actually a pretty big jump especially if you're gonna mess around with Linux since newer gen tends to have better driver support out of the box. The RAM difference hurts a bit but you can
