Unhappy X1(G9) owner, want some advice downgrading

4k display kills your battery. Avoid X1 Carbon if you don't like soft touch coating. Some other models might have a soft touch as well, so look that up before buying. I'd go with the same CPU you had, 1185g7 is a good option on a budget. Or AMD 6650u, 6850u are still powerful enough, battery efficie

I’m starting to resent my T480

As a student, you might as well come back to MacBook - brand-new Neo is 850 CAD with education discount, or you should be able to find older M chip Air models under 1000 CAD second hand. You get Microsoft Office IIRC, good battery life, good bright screen (some ThinkPads model configs still somewhat

Lenovo ThinkPad T14s Gen 7 debuts with Snapdragon X2 Elite and more lightweight 1.1 kg chassis

Finally, the X1 Carbon Snapdragon we've been waiting for. These could be the best T14s in the lineup if you can deal with ARM compatibility issue for very niche apps. I've been using the T14s G6 Snapdragon for a year and I haven't had any issues so far with compatibility on Windows, as most programs

Why is the X1 Carbon considered the most premium ThinkPad?

For me, the X1 Carbon is considered the “premium” ThinkPad mainly because of the design philosophy behind it rather than raw performance. Lenovo positions it as their showcase model the one that’s supposed to represent the brand at its best. In day-to-day use though, the differences aren’t as dramat

Setelah 5 tahun, dijual sekaligus ratusan. Harga setelah penyusutan sudah "Rp 0". Dijual berapa pun, kantor tetep "untung" dan masuk ke "other income". Jadi dijual murah, dengan kondisi

Switching from M1 Pro to used X1 Carbon for personal use — will an i5-1235U keep up with a full stack dev workload on Linux?

  • Is the i5-1235U going to bottleneck me noticeably for this kind of workload? No, but it's the least efficient processor generation that was ever released under the "core i" marketing umbrella. So battery life isn't good compared to the machines older or younger than it. - Would you go Gen 10 i5 or s

X9 vs X1 Carbon - Pricing

I'd go for T14, maybe t14s or X9 - the X1 Carbon always was "expensive, but cool and slow", it was never about being a good deal I also hate to say it, but if you are not overly attached windows/linux, just get a macbook. Even refurbished M4 Pro or something like that will be miles ahead in terms of

T14s Snapdragon 64GB OLED - the ultimate ARM workstation

100% agree. This is the best Windows PC on the market right now and it isn’t close. Only way it can be bested is if Lenovo decides to stop putting Intel shit into its X1 Carbon line. How did you get that deal?

Rant about shitty laptops

In most firms it depends on the partner you are aligned to. Some just don't care if people have trash tier laptops. Some don't understand that an ultra-light X1C is truly shit if you need to do any kind work that requires performance ("The laptop was expensive and does everything I need - so it sure

Anyone Linux users here wanting to buy the new Framework 13 Pro but struggling to justify since you buy old thinkpads?

Depends on what your using it for. I just swapped out my wife's Framework 13 w/WIN11 for a X1 Carbon Gen 7 with CachyOS to access her work VM for work. The Carbon is much more responsive and snappier even in her VM environment. I bought the Framework of every intention of it being a long time keeper
