Best laptops for writers
The Lenovo business class machines. They're designed to be repaired. On the current market, I'd buy a used Lenovo ThinkPad T480. A real tank and easy to fix. If you want new, get a Lenovo ThinkPad T16/Gen 5. Make sure it's Gen 5 to get easily swappable RAM and batteries, serviceability, and a modula

Best 16" Thinkpad for €1300?
Initially I was sceptical about buying used but options like that are quire appealing. I only have 2 concerns though. Will a CPU like the Ultra 5 235U have enough performance to last into the future with only 2 P cores? I will reply here, in one comment, to both of your comments, just to keep it all

Lenovo ThinkPad T16 Gen 4 AMD Review Notebookcheck
"The Lenovo ThinkPad T16 Gen 4 with the AMD processor left an overall good impression in our test. You get a high-quality and stable business laptop with comfortable input devices and a bright display that just lacks a higher frequency. The LowPower display requires little power, which leads to very

50 years old returning to school! Need help!
17 inches or larger is going to severely limit your options and be a bit of a pain to haul around. How about 16inches? If that's okay too, something like a used Lenovo Thinkpad T16 (Gen 1, 2, or 3) should fit in your budget. Has a numbpad, good build.

AMD Ryzen AI 400 laptops on a budget: Lenovo launches ThinkPad L14 G7 and L16 G3
I see. Thanks for the explanation. I'm looking forward to seeing the new E-Series models. I imagine they'll be unveiled soon. It's strange that even though the E-series is not intended for enterprises, it still comes with the cheapest 45% NTSC panel by default. And the selection of panels is pretty

AMD Ryzen AI 400 laptops on a budget: Lenovo launches ThinkPad L14 G7 and L16 G3
I just came across a recent news article https://www.notebookcheck.net/ThinkPad-T16-Gen-5-Lenovo-releases-new-16-inch-laptop-with-AMD-and-Intel-processors.1280902.0.html And there's a picture to go with it. Even though it doesn't show the entire keyboard, just a part of it, the F-keys are much clear

Thinkpad with numeric keypad
After looking a bit more and a gift from a grandparent gave some additional dollars that has increased the budget. There is time to wait a bit. The P16 gen 3 seems to be the best fit. Couple of questions on this spec. 16 inch screen, num pad are a must which is a big limiter as you said. ThinkPad T1

Thinkpad E16 Gen 2 & 3 vs Thinkbook 16 gen 7 & 8 Internals
Agreed with all your points. Here is the T16 gen 3 review by laptop media: https://laptopmedia.com/review/lenovo-thinkpad-t16-gen-3-review-fast-performance-great-display-but-can-get-hot/ It has a table for the stress test that compares it to thinkbook 16 gen 7 with same CPU (125U), and the thinkbook

Asus Vivobook S16 OLED (S5606CA) or wait for Lenovo ThinkPad T16 Gen 4?
Even taking a quick glance at the ASUS Vivobook S16 I instantly realize that I wouldn't even consider this laptop for myself. It's about the keyboard. Key travel matters little to me, moreover, over time I even realized that a shorter key travel for me is at least as good, if not even better. These
