Why is the X1 Carbon considered the most premium ThinkPad?
The thing is it doesn't have a better cooling system than the T14s (note the s). The T14s Gen 6 is like 90% of the X1C Gen 13 at 3/4 of the price, with a lot more CPU and screen options too. I appreciate the engineering behind the X1C idea but a lot of those innovations are trickling down to lesser

I’m an architect looking for a new surface laptop
If I was using the programs you mention, I'd look for X86 laptops (Intel / AMD processors). And what laptop size are you looking for? I seek 13" - 14", ymmv. I've been looking for a quality laptop since early November & my priority overlapped many of yours. Here's my experience of what consider & lo

T14 G2 AMD vs T14s G3 Intel
I'd say if gen3 Intel has "P" CPU (higher power but worse thermals and battery) like i7-1260P, I'd prioritise T14 gen2 AMD over T14s gen3 Intel (probably with worse thermals and battery life in expense with CPU power). Looking to move to a Thinkpad, wondering what would fit my needs.
tl;dr: 16 or more GB RAM model of X13 (13.3 inch) or T14s (14 inch) gen1 AMD would be the closest one that meet your criteria. Also are there any other Thinkpads similar to the x1, maybe ones that are a little cheaper X13 (Intel/ AMD) or T14s (Intel/ AMD) series were made of either aluminium or magn

Best ThinkPad for 400–600 € budget (programming, travel, light gaming)
It depends also on the balance between the portability/ battery life and the upgradability. I think used gen3 (released in 2022, AMD - Intel counterpart gen3 unfortunately had much worse battery life) either of T14s or of X13 is a sweet spot for your need - they are made of aluminium alloy and have

RAM -- Soldered or Replacable? AI, too...
The P series is highly variable; the P14s/P16s is basically just a T14/T16, with a bigger processor option - a couple of generations back this was the T4xxp and later there was a T14p although I'm not sure it was sold in the US. Virutally all of the options are the same, and yes, it's clearly the sa

T14 Gen 5
Hey I wanted to say Ive been using a Thinkpad T14s gen 2 with an i7 and Intel Iris Xe graphics (512gb SSD and 16g ram like this one also) for the past 3 years for highschool and college and it's been great. The older integrated graphics could run league of legends flawlessly but kinda struggled a bi

Lenovo X1 Carbon is the best laptop to ever exist
Lenovo hasn't announced any X2 machines yet but it makes sense given previous announcements in 2024. Yoga and consumer Snapdragon X laptops came out in May and June, the ThinkPad T14s Gen 6 showed up in August. MWC 2026, Lenovo announced the T14s Gen 7 with Snapdragon X2, Panther Lake and AMD Gorgon

ThinkPad X1 Carbon G12 Impressions
My review hasn't changed. I still love my X1C. The battery life is still great, performance is great, thermals are awesome, no driver issues, overall, very reliable daily driver. I don't have a T14s for direct comparison, but from what I've read in the other review on the T14 Gen 5 (note, Gen 5, not
