Should I get a Thinkpad T14 Gen 1?

I'd honestly recommend swapping drives to a Windows drive temporarily so you can use Lenovo Vantage to update, T14s is such a wide variety model that I wouldn't trust downloading the BIOS file. BIOS will say what version it's running, if you just want to compare just enter your Service Tag number fr

Windows on Snapdragon X2 Elite Extreme is finally what Arm laptops should have been

I don't know who's ultimately to blame in your case - the Ryzen T14s being a work machine I immediately get flashbacks from efficiency-(and performance!-)destroying security software and intrusive GPOs ruining energy settings (combined with outdated BIOSes, oh the irony...) - but Lenovo's AMD Thinkp

I’m starting to resent my T480

Before spending money on a newer laptop, ditch the Windows11 and reset your T480 to the state it was in when it was new. Then update the Win10 to the latest 22H2 release, check that Microsoft Update doesn't replace any Lenovo-supplied drivers with generic ones and enroll in ESUs to keep receiving se

[UPDATE] Qualcomm, fsck you.

Qualcomm consistently doesn't give a shit. Here's yet another example of 37 pages of brokenness that's seemingly impossible to fix: https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Other-Linux-Discussions/QCNFA765-Linux-ath11k-wifi-crippled-high-latency-packet-loss-frequent-disassociations-T14s-AMD/m-p/5252399?page=37

Apple in Talks to Boost Mac Neo Production as Sales Exceed Expectations

Yeah work for a big pharma we all just received new T14s so we can access our virtual desktops on our servers. Maxed out Lenovo T14’s just to VNC into a cloud desktop, alongside our ipads. Macbook Neo’s would be much better for this application when nothing is stored or computed locally. And they in

Guide: T14G5/6(AMD+Intel) P14sG5/6 (AMD) 16 inch mod + glass trackpad.

I beg the question; Why wouldn't someone start with a T16 instead? I get price, but the hassle is quite a bit much, especially when certain parts may or may not be available from other vendors, forcing you to go through Lenovo. Also, how does the T14 Gen 5 AMD not work with the numpad, but work at t

Is this a joke? The first Snapdragon C laptop could come with 4GB of RAM

Lunar Lake seems to have fixed the heat issue. In a comparison between the Snapdragon T14s Gen 6 and its Intel model the latter actually came out cooler. https://www.notebookcheck.net/Intel-empire-strikes-back-with-21-hrs-of-battery-life-Lenovo-ThinkPad-T14s-Gen-6-laptop-review.1008078.0.html#c13277

Ever since updating Linux my ThinkPad sometimes won't resume from sleep. This seems to have been an issue for a lot of people over the years, but no clear solution. I'm not sure how I should handle that.

I found the fix. The wifi adapter driver is known to cause problems on this model and the solution is to remove it before suspend and reload it on resume. I should've just checked the Arch Wiki! https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Lenovo_ThinkPad_T14_(AMD)_Gen_3#Suspend/Hibernate Thanks again for the troub

New Dell XPS Palm Rest is made of glass

We have a handful of ThinkPads and they are nice, but my biggest gripe is that they don't allow automated setting of BIOS passwords. I had a T14s with the AMD AI cpu for a bit, but the AI was mostly hype and even with their python libraries it couldn't do much. Also they don't negotiate on prices in

<₱30k Budget, Philippines, First Time Buying a Laptop

What the other commenter said. It depends on what the prices are for you, but the alternative from Intel would be the Intel Core i5-1135G7. Keep in mind that there is 0 reason to pay extra to get a Core i7-1165G7, it's really just a waste of money at that point. You'll be quite fine with a Ryzen 3 5
