E14 Gen 6 vs T14 Gen 5
Would prob grab E14 to have the dual m.2 slots, and bigger battery. The feel of the T14 is pretty much the same to me between T14 and E14...ended up getting a deal for $530 on a t14g5 refurb from Lenovo Outlet with 135u, 16gb, and 512gb NVMe and threw in a 4tb 990 Pro. It's a great daily but dont th

Considering a thinkPad T14 Gen 5 for engineering is it a good choice?
Are you telling me that your university has no computer rooms with proper workstations for mechanical engineering software? If yes, go to another university if possible. As others have said, the T14G5 will work fine for smaller stuff, it will lack performance for larger projects that include multi b

For battery life on linux in thinkpad t14 gen 6, which of these two processors do you think will do well?AMD Ryzen AI 5 PRO 340 or Intel Core Ultra 5 225U?
I optimized my intel 165U quite well for battery on linux. Wifi browsing for maybe 8 hours. Despite that I would recommend amd ryzen. Mightbe battery would be worse a small bit or two bits, but other than that it is more mature chip for overall real tasks. And more energy efficient for longer lastin

Any opinions on the T14 Gen 5 AMD?
In this particular model, the OLED display eats battery like there's no tomorrow. You will get like up to 3 hours of battery life, compared to around 6 for the IPS panel. That runtime is with low/moderate use. On reviews you can see up to 12 hours or so (IPS display), but on idle. Also, getting the

ThinkPad T14 (Ultra 5 238V, 32GB soldered) worth it long-term?
Build quality of Lenovo isn't as great as it once wise. I had a T14 gen 5 and it felt cheap and had issues with the touchpad. Opted for the X1carbon with a dedicated fingerprint sensor, much better. Also no errors with the trackpad. But all at added cost. It addition, win 11 is absolutely garbage an

Does T14s look and perform more "amateurish" than T14
Ive had some (arrow down, left shift, left alt, "P", "A", "M") failed permanently within a week and some other keys failing randomly. While it's easy to replace a keyboard on a normal ThinkPads - on a "S" series it's a nightmare. Well, i feel that the T14G5 speakers are better than on t14sg3 (howeve

T14 Gen 5 (Intel) 32 or 64 GB RAM?
I have pretty same: t14g5 i 165u 64gb, I barely got 20 gb ram usage during sbt compilation. Go for 32. If 64 will be needed, you can upgrade later. Moreover RAM in t14g5 isn't speedy if coming from Lenovo. If 64gb is needed, buy as small stock ram from Lenovo and upgrade ypurself to 64gb of low late

What makes you love your Thinkpad?
Between personal and company, I had 10 laptops or so. Dell, HP, Asus. My T14G5 just works. That's it. Whatever I throw at it, it works. I never had such a seamless and easy experience installing linux as in this laptop. I tried really hard to find anything wrong with it, the best I came up with was

T14 gen 5, downsides?
Good luck. Maybe AMD version of same T14G5 is more performing, as everybody tells. But Intel is still performing enough for me even if tied by tlp. AMD users sometimes mention coil whine which I didn't want to risk.

Why would you ever buy a T480 when you can buy a T14 Gen 2 or higher for cheaper?
For me, in comparing between T480 and T14G2 I’ll choose T14G2. But if comparing with T490 or T14G1 I’ll choose T480. Next leap in processer technology is T14G5.
