Buying Advice: ThinkPad for AI / Cybersecurity Studies
If portability doesn’t matter and performance + quiet operation are the priority, the ThinkPad P16 Gen 2 or 3 is the best ThinkPad you can buy. It has HX-series CPUs, the strongest cooling in the lineup, supports very high RAM (ideal for AI and VMs), and sustains heavy loads far better than P1 or X1

New Thinkpad Design Ugly
Hey, I have a ThinkPad P16 gen 2 in stormy grey. And what shall I say? It is much better than my ThinkPad T580, although T580 is much more handier & P16 gen 2 much more like a monster. The surface of the case is not that prone for finger prints and grease strains, only because eating chips and so on

Thoughts on ASUS TUF B650M, a Thunderbolt 5 card & an TB eGPU?
You need to use the card designed for your specific motherboard. The TB5 card is not officially compatible. It's not going to work how you think. Even with the correct number of pins on the header, there is way more going on than just plugging it in. At best, you might be able to get something to wo

bought a p16 gen 2 14700HX RTX1000 ada refurbished for $1200, but considering Legion Pro 5i
ThinkPad P16 Gen 2 is a mobile workstation built for durability, expandability, and pro workloads, but its power-hungry CPU and GPU cause high temps and poor battery life under light use unless tuned. The Legion Pro 5i runs cooler and quieter with better gaming performance and battery for casual tas

ThinkPad P16 Gen 3 (for work)
I think it’s a matter of habit — I’ve always used keyboards with numeric keypads. So personally, working on a PC without one feels impractical to me. For my use case (mainly with SOLIDWORKS), the ThinkPad P16 Gen3 chassis allows for much more powerful components than those available in the ThinkPad

Thinkpad P16 G3 first benchmarks (285HX / RTX 4000 Blackwell)
That is so great - thank you a lot for running this benchmark! That underlines that Lenovo seems to have a quite solid thermal management - even if the overall system TDP is reduced to something like 135 watts, both 285HX and RTX Pro 4000 together deliver a solid performance. With "only" an RTX Pro

Gamepad!
I got ThinkPad p16, 64 GB RAM, RTX A1000 6 GB, i7 13th and its amazing. Even in gaming. I love it. The only “problem” is that a fan is making a strange noise, but… i will change it later.

Considering Buying ThinkPad P16 Gen 2
Whats up guys, well i am a security researcher too. I was looking for a power beast over the facebook market place from a while. As my experience has been better, a year back i bought a ThinkPad p51s from a seller which was equipped with 32 gb ddr4 ram, a 2 core intel i7 and a useless NVidia m520. b

Replace my Current PC with Laptop
Buisiness laptops with the i9 cpu that I can find are running around the 3kg+ mark. A 4.5KG laptop, while still chunky, is going to be limited to less thermally demanding hardware. My primary workstation laptop, equipped with a 4th gen quad core i7, weights 2.88KG according to google math conversion
