What laptop should I get as a product/industrial design major

Person who made this sheet shows hints that he has little knowledge about configs and pcs. 1-NPUs litterally are still useless basically only windows and some apps use them for basic things like background blur and some shit, if you hvae a good GPU its basically redundant, ik npus are more efficient

Some mfs said "E series = E-Waste"

Part of it is they're pretty much made by a completely different company. Most ThinkPads (T, X1, X, P, L, Z and probably also the X9 to get their intrusive thoughts out) are designed and engineered by Yamato Design in Japan, a design firm that has existed since the IBM days. They also make a lot of

Engineering Laptops for Engineering

Used/Refurbished Lenovo ThinkPad P series. Check Lenovo Outlet, eBay, etc. On eBay I see quite a few P16 models available in your price range. Personally, I would buy a P16 Gen 1 or 2 off eBay. Avoid the P series models with the -s suffix (ex: P16s) as those are not the same. If you get a workstatio

Laptop Recomemdations

ThinkPad P16 Gen 1 and above or HP ZBook Fury Gen 8 or above if you want something more powerful (and heavier). ThinkPad P1 Gen 5 and above (X1 Extreme gen 5), HP ZBook Studio Gen 9 and above for something lighter but still powerful enough.

What next after leaving XPS?

Thinkpad models are hit or miss, Carbon series has a mushy keyboard and T14/P14/P16 still have a nice backplate support. Price wise a Dell Pro Max 15 or 16" look better in comparison with Core Ultra 7 specs. There is always the "HP ProBook" 14" models if you prefer dedicated "home, pg up/pg dn, and

Which is the best ThinkPad?

I was considering the ThinkPad P16 Gen 3, but it's difficult for me to justify spending nearly €4,000 on a laptop that appears to be mostly plastic. It's not what the outside looks like, it's what the chassis is constructed from. Typically a magnesium alloy for Thinkpad frames.

Thoughts on ASUS TUF B650M, a Thunderbolt 5 card & an TB eGPU?

You need to use the card designed for your specific motherboard. The TB5 card is not officially compatible. It's not going to work how you think. Even with the correct number of pins on the header, there is way more going on than just plugging it in. At best, you might be able to get something to wo

Zephyrus G16 as desktop replacement?

Been a 2021 G15 Zephyrus user before my G14 2024, I am an engineer, it gets abused at home and has handled stuff just fine. However mines a base variant with a 4050 and Ryzen 7 8845. My "true" DTR device is my ThinkPad P16 G2, but honestly build quality between Le Tank (Thinkpad) and Lil Guy (G14) a

Kingston SSD

Kingston uses different controllers on their products so that opens more compatibility issues, some mobos/laptops don't like them as a booting drive. If a laptop maker used a Kingston SSD they likely ran more certifications than others. I know for a fact some ASUS Expertbook and ProArt models can't/
