Laptop Recomemdations

Forget about T, E and X series in this case (except X1 Extreme). He needs a laptop with a dGPU, maybe Zbook Fury, Zbook Studio, Dell Precision 5000/7000 series or a ThinkPad P16/P1 Gen 5 and above or X1 Extreme gen 5.

Seriously? What has happened in your past?

ThinkPad P16 Gen 2, i9-13950HX w/ vPro, 192GB ECC RAM, 16TB NVMe in RAID0, RTX 5000 Ada, 4K OLED Touchscreen. Literally the highest end ThinkPad you can buy (as of 1.5y ago). Plus all the trimmings: WWAN card, NFC, Smart Card reader, 300W PSU, full custom vinyl wrap, carry sleeve, 2.5G network adapt

ThinkPad P16 Gen 1 and above or HP ZBook Fury Gen 8 or above if you want something more powerful (and heavier). ThinkPad P1 Gen 5 and above (X1 Extreme gen 5), HP ZBook Studio Gen 9 and above for something lighter but still powerful enough.

Laptops for planswift

I use a ThinkPad P16. Something with a graphics card is helpful when getting into CAD as well.

Stay with MX Linux or switch?

Depending on what you are developing, I would get a system with better specs. I don’t like running anything with less than 16gb or ram, I prefer 32gb, also you might consider getting something that comes with a co-processor (not just integrated graphics). How much you paying for that PC? Not too lon

Question for Lenovo marketing; any chance a Thinkpad with a good gfx card will be available again in the near future?

At this moment, the Thinkpad with the best gfx card available for my needs is a P1 gen 7 with a nvidia 4060. The Ada cards don't offer the same performance and cost a bit more. This is nonsense. The RTX 4060 is an Ada card, and Ada generation cards do offer better performance than earlier Ampere car

Vectorworks users in the US, what’s your experience been like?

At first it seemed like a decent program. But reality hits you like a steel beam in the face.1- Requires a lot of power (CPU, GPU, system memory, storage, screen resolution). Likely there is no perfect machine, just one that is acceptable. You can have one that is 1000x faster, and it will run signi
