Switching to the P14s Gen 5 from T480
I hear you. I’ve a similar experience: recently I switched to a p14s gen5 amd and my previous laptop was a t470s. I miss a lot the old keyboard, the magnesium body, the build quality and the lightness. Performance wise it’s a huge jump (I really don’t feel the need of having a desktop pc anymore) bu

Provocative question for Thinkpad users - why choose a Thinkpad over a Mac at a higher level of specifications
First thing I'd point out is a very flawed premise. At the higher levels of specs, mac doesn't even HAVE laptops to compete with the specs of ThinkPads. Find me a Mac laptop that has 4TB internal storage like my P14s Gen4 AMD AND my P14s Gen5 AMD. Find me a Mac laptop that has 64GB RAM. I'll wait...

Best thinkpad for college?
These are the outgoing P14s Gen 5 models and they're being discounted because the new Gen 6 is coming out next month. The RAM on these is swappable so you can start with 32GB ($1300+tax) and then upgrade to 64GB down the road if you need to do heavy simulation. But I think you'll be fine on 32GB for

Any opinions on the T14 Gen 5 AMD?
In this particular model, the OLED display eats battery like there's no tomorrow. You will get like up to 3 hours of battery life, compared to around 6 for the IPS panel. That runtime is with low/moderate use. On reviews you can see up to 12 hours or so (IPS display), but on idle. Also, getting the

What laptop should I get for heavy lifting in excel?
Max the RAM, 32GB minimum, get the best processor you can find, get plenty of fast storage as well. Make sure your eGPU does not have compatibility issues (some AMD ones on the Ryzen 7 does and kills excel randomly). Excel itself can benefit from the following: Remove OneDrive, Sharepoint and CoPilo

Nightmare B2B experience with lenovo.com: missing laptop and now forced to file a police report against Lenovo.
I'm a private individual. I recently placed three orders from Lenovo: my first time buying from them. Very fast, yes. Inside each box was a summary of the contents. But I have to say one thing: the package was shameful. The internal packaging was completely insufficient and useless. And I have to ap

What is generally agreed upon to be the "best" ThinkPad?
There is no absolute the BEST unless you must consider it as a collection instead of a tool. Unless you buy it as a collection. You buy for what it capable for. like you buy a Ford F150 bc it would be a great tool to get rid of heavy snow in the winter. Unfder such terms, I think the BEST machine fr

My awful experience after 3 years of using Thinkpad X1 Carbon Gen10
Yes, Lunar Lake in thin and light are great, and are fantastic on battery. Sadly, this comes at the cost of relatively huge amounts of overall performance for the price due to the complexity of the Lunar Lake design. I'm a big fan of Arrow Lake H though. While not AMAZING battery life, with the larg

Is the p14s g1 suitable for a mechanical engineering student
For a laptop likely close to 3 years old (launched March 2023), € 750 is a lot of money, even with an i7, 32GB RAM, and a 3yr warranty (is that dealer or Lenovo?). T14 G3 had six display options, basic displays 300 nit 45% NTSC (standard or touchscreen), crisp, and reasonably bright but not color ac
