Life with 6 yrs old t495 :)
I love my T495. I have a 2024 Lenovo Legion 5i, a gaming pc and a gen 1 thinkpad L14.. my T495 is the one i use 9.5/10 times. It’s just too good and comfortable. I use windows though. I need it for solidworks and matlab, handles it just fine too! It’s my favorite computer I’ve ever had. Got rid of m

is this a good idea ?
This system, ThinkPad L14 Gen 5 (Intel), is a fine computer. It's relatively new, I see few of these on the used market in the US so far. 16gb of ram and 256gb of SSD are fine starting places and they're also modular/replaceable on this model. The price seems basically fair.

Laptop recommendations
I am going to China for a few months and just built a pretty decent rig out of a thinkpad L14 gen 4. My home laptop is a lenovo yoga i9 as my main studio computer. It's too heavy and I dont want to loose or damage it, so I went with this lightweight thinkpad. I will say, the think pad will struggle

Name the best 13" (or 14" honorable mention) with a 16:9 display you could live with in 2025 as a travel mate, for light duty surfing & content consumption
Personally, my favorite 16:9 laptop ever was a Lenovo ThinkPad L14 Gen3 AMD. It was great....5875u, 64gb ram, 2tb SSD, 400-nit low power display, 57wh battery. Could get over 8 hours on battery with a light load and reasonable brightness. Loved that thing.

Looking for laptop recommendations! I like Thinkpads, new to compsci
If you're open to refurbished machines and are looking for what looks like fairly normal usage, maybe consider something like the Dell Latitude 5440? It's a 14-inch mainstream business laptop from 2023 with Intel 13th gen. You can get them on US eBay for $250-350 or so. They have 2x SODIMM slots, WL

need laptop for everyday tasks, NO SOLDERING
US? Dell Latitude 5440 (TBH 5450 would probably still fit in your budget) - sodimm sockets, full m.2 slot for wifi, m.2 slot for wlan, $250 for a 5440 with 16gb/256gb on US eBay, which is a couple generations newer than what you'll typically get in a ThinkPad. https://www.ebay.com/itm/366289482877 a

Friends please suggest me a best processor for cad modelling
I chose AMD powered laptop for work over Intel. It was Lenovo ThinkPad L14 Gen4. AMD is a better iGPU my SolidWorks 2023 works flawlessly.

Thinkpad l14 gen 4 or t14 gen 2
The T14 offers a more rugged build, a brighter, better stock display, and Thunderbolt support permitting the connection of an external GPU. The L14 G4 trades a weaker dimmer display, and cheaper build, for a more powerful chipset with much stronger graphics, dual open RAM slots (up to 64GB), and a t

L14 AMD (Ryzen 5 4650U) vs T14 Intel (i7, 32GB RAM) for Linux dev?
Even with RAM and storage, $510 is expensive for a T14 G1, both T14, and L14 G1 are 6 years old. If the T14 still appealed, I'd want to know the age and health of the 1TB NVMe, as it could also be 6 years old, and heavily worn. Avoid if either has a 1366x768 TN display. I'd favor spending less on an
