I’m starting to resent my T480

Before spending money on a newer laptop, ditch the Windows11 and reset your T480 to the state it was in when it was new. Then update the Win10 to the latest 22H2 release, check that Microsoft Update doesn't replace any Lenovo-supplied drivers with generic ones and enroll in ESUs to keep receiving se

Ryzen 5 220 vs Ultra 7 255H for Thinkpad E14 Gen7?

For battery life I believe the order is: Lunar Lake > Hawk Point > Arrow Lake given the same battery capacity (hopefully you bought the 64Wh model). For office work and web browsing, 255H would be an overkill in my opinion. Only the Lunar Lake model could have been more efficient. From Notebookcheck

ThinkPad E14 Gen 7 options?

All E14 Gen7 have two SSD slots. Memory is upgradeable or not depending on CPU architecture, E14/16 is the only decently-priced Thinkpad offering two storage slots. All other models offering this feature are high-priced workstation-grade ones. Go for a model with the Intel Lunar Lake CPUs (258V for

I need your suggestion

Hot-swappable batteries are no longer offered on Thinkpads. Last model to have those was Tx80 from 2018. You will need to carry a USB-C power bank like the Lenovo 40ALLG2WWW instead if you absolutely require backup power. However, current Thinkpads offer batter runtimes in excess of eight hours when

E14 Gen 3 ryzen 5 vs T14 Gen 1 ryzen 5 pro vs X1 carbon gen 9 i7 1185G7

Not being able to tolerate a +10 keypad, and having owned a P14s Gen4 AMD w/ OLED (returned for an otherwise identical build LCD) & P14s Gen5 AMD w/ OLED, no way would I ever consider the P14s Gen6 AMD. Too expensive to not get the high resolution display, but battery is simply too small for any CPU

Thinkpad with the best cpu in my budget?

I just ordered a new LunarLake (Intel) E14 Gen7 with education pricing that you may also have access to for 950€ directly from Lenovo (Austria). It doesn't have upgradeable RAM as it needs to be soldered for LunarLake, but it comes with 32GB for sub 1000€ which will last me some time. IMO it is curr

MBA alternative

Difference is generational - about 20% more power. Especially the iGPU has improved (I only have the the Ryzen7). Efficiency (=battery runtime) in typical general-purpose use is better than with Gen3 as well except under sustained high loads where Gen3 has an advantage. In all fairness, I have a lar

Thinkpad E14 gen 7, good deal?

E series is actually becoming quite good these last generations. Check the review of the previous gen to get a better idea maybe: https://www.notebookcheck.net/Lenovo-ThinkPad-E14-G6-laptop-review-Fixes-lots-of-problems-on-the-E14-G5.927075.0.html Indeed, it's the entry-lvl thinkpad so don't expect

Looking for a thinkpad to buy for long term

T14s Gen4 AMD have top performance (The Zen4 CPUs have been renamed and are still current) , good battery life (nine hours plus with WUXGA base displays). and can be had for pretty cheap these days. E14 Gen7 with Lunar Lake Intel (the "-V" CPU options) is a budget-friendly option with max- battery l

Thinkpad t14 g6 opinions

E-series used to be really cheaply made, not anymore. Main difference these days is cheaper materials used for chassis (ABS plastic instead of CFK, but you can specify aluminum) which results in E-series weighing a bit more and being a little thicker than higher-priced models. But build quality, hin
