Kindle or Kobo?
I really love my Pocketbook Verse Pro. It handles a ton of formats, and sideloading is the best experience I’ve had. I’ve owned kindles, and I currently own a Kobo Clara BW that I rarely use now.

Best ereaders for under 60 dollars?
I would recommend to buy used from one of the established brands (PocketBook, Kobo, Kindle). Or raise your bar and buy new. Eink is by design expensive (e.g. you won't even get a replacement screen for the Kobo Clara BW for 60$), and your first device should give you a hassle free experience. I myse

Best e-reader for someone new to them?
Amazon charges extra for this. This statement doesn't make sense to me because you are comparing apples to oranges. The Kobo Clara BW (no ads) is £130. The Kindle basic (no ads) is £110 Amazon doesn't charge more to remove ads, it lowers the starting price in exchange for ads.

Amazon to end support for older Kindles, prompting user outcry
Email won’t work anymore, either, come May, as that’s part of the Amazon services. Literally only option will be buying ebooks from places that allow you to download the files, convert them using Calibre, and transfer them via USB cable. But that won’t work for borrowed library books, since you down

I own a Kindle Paperwhite 12th Gen and bought a Kobo Clara BW (review)
I stated the prices for a reason. The Kobo Clara Bw is $50 cheaper than the PW but the Libra is $50 more expensive. The Kobo Clara BW is $50 more than the Kindle Basic. Either way you get the same price difference. The Kobo Clara is made of cheaper materials than the Kindle PW (and the Kindle Basic)

I own a Kindle Paperwhite 12th Gen and bought a Kobo Clara BW (review)
The “budget” Kobo is only $50 cheaper than the Paperwhite. The Kindle Basic is $50 cheaper than the Kobo Clara. The Kobo Libra is $50 more than the Paperwhite. Everything essentially has a $50 difference in price. So arguably the Kindle PW and Kobo Clara BW are perfectly fine comparison, I’d say mor

Kobo vs kindle
My two pence, so bear in mind that others opinion may be different. From a perspective of a person who only sideload books to device: I owned quite a few pocketbooks, kindles and kobo ereaders. In my experience the hardware can't be beaten when it comes to kindle. I tried to play with kobo but their
