Kids nowadays, especially Gen Alpha, cannot concentrate on reading books for very long. Is it a true story or just a myth?

My 14 year old chaos bringer is a voracious reader. She buys her own books with any money she can scrounge, including 600 to 700 page chapter books. We bought her a Kindle paperwhite for christmas last year, and has just about worn it out. The flip cover case for it is falling apart She recently add...

My Kindle is an ad filled wasteland and I regret buying it.

Doesn't work on newer kindles. I left my beloved kindle paperwhite on a plane and had to buy a new one; it now needs to connect to wifi periodically for you to continue reading, which defeats the whole purpose of having a kindle when it does it while you're on a bus or something.

What's the oldest thing you still use daily that works like new?

Oldest item without moving parts: I'm a chef and a lot of my daily-use mixing bowls are from the 1940s-1960s. I don't know which one is the oldest oldest, but probably a Fire King mixing bowl from the late 30s. Oldest item with moving parts: I have my great-great grandmother's rolling pin, which I'm...

The decline in reading for pleasure over 20 years of the American Time Use Survey

I bought a kindle a few years ago and it drastically increased my love for reading again. It’s nice because I can sample books before purchasing to see if they grab my attention. It also has a night mode so I can read in bed at night versus scroll on my phone. Edit: I bought a kindle paperwhite

My Amazon TV now unmutes itself during Prime Video commercial breaks

I download the book and upload it to my Kindle over USB with Calibre. The download option is a little hidden, for obvious reasons, but if you poke around on your order page you can find it. My Kindle has never left airplane mode and never known an internet connection and it's going to stay that way....

Little Habits that Made Postpartum Life Easier?

I prioritized taking a shower every day, even if it was two minutes. Also running a brush through my hair since it was up in a bun 99.9% of the time and would get tangled next to my pony tail. Outside time is great - we had a comfy couch spot that I could bring my nursing pillow and nurse. Also, onc...

Scared to move to Kobo

I had a kindle paperwhite for at least 10 years. I loved it but I hated that Amazon was removing the option to download the books I bought. That ticked me off. Then the coloursoft came out and had such horrible reviews and was overpriced. I randomly saw a TikTok about other color e-readers and I had...

What was something you swore to hate forever, then did and actually enjoy it now?

Kindle Paperwhite is amazing. I've had the same one for like a decade. That paired with a library card and the Libby app.. whew.

Testing Kobo Libra Colour vs Kindle Color – Which one should I keep?

I went from a kindle paperwhite to the KLC and I love the Kobo ecosystem so much more. It feels so much more personalized to me vs kindles basic ecosystem. The only thing kindle has going for them is the amount of books available in the Amazon store and KU. I’m hoping that now that Kobo is becoming ...

12 years old with no signs of slowing down

While I know a lot of Amazon products are basically just stores I find they are overbuilt for the price. If you can jailbreak, sideload or something to avoid the store you often times get a really solid device for a low price. I still have a working, but ancient and slow, kindle fire first gen that ...
