Bitter Sweet
I'm pretty miffed about Amazon sending my OG Paperwhite to pasture. It has some significant sentimental value, and going down the sideloading path just changes the experience. What's a good non-Amazon e-reader nowadays?

Amazon dropping some Kimdle Support
My 2012 paperwhite works just fine. I am FURIOUS about this. Is there any other option for an e reader that works though? I hate reading on my phone. I don't really want to buy another kindle after this.

Getting my GF a Kindle for Christmas
So i'm considering getting my gf a Kindle Paperwhite for Christmas. ... Any advice is appreciated. Don't buy a Kindle. I was an early Kindle owner and while the hardware is good, the user experience has done nothing but get worse every single update. Furthermore, the Kindle store has continually mad

Starting in May, pre-2013 Kindles won't be able to buy or download new books
I was a kindle user for like 13 or so years and I regret not making the switch to a kobo so much sooner. The screen’s nicer (at least in comparison to a 2020 paperwhite, which may not be fair), it lags on me way less, and it just feels like it’s built a little sturdier

Deinfluence me: Kindle
I have a Kobo, but I guess this still applies: Kung di ka talaga mahilig magbasa, and think getting one MIGHT make you an avid reader, it’s not worth spending so much for it. E-ink screens are very fragile, even with screen protectors. We don’t have a local official customer support in case it break

De-influence me into getting a Kobo Libra Colour
I see a lot of the negative reviews about color e-readers are from people who look at it and decide quickly. In less than a week, I preferred it to the Paperwhite and sold the PW. I would have anyway, it was part of my De-Amazonning and it was my third as the first two died in warranty (two years).

Best Ereader for actually owning your books?
Kobo books are easier to de-DRM, meaning you get to keep them, while Amazon keeps making it more difficult and less consumer-friendly with each new update. In the UK Kindle/Amazon has no kind of rewards points/programme (I believe this is different in the USA?), I've been able to use my points from

Am I missing anything about the Kindle devices?
You're not completely wrong. As I understand you're in the EU (as am I) and therefore, we can't fully experience the Amazon effect so there is less to boycott for us. Yes, also other big companies making ereaders are gulity of some really nasty practices, but Amazon is the biggest and it's absolutel

Kobo FTW
Yeah, they used to sell kindle basic back in 2023, paperwhite was 10k. This new paperwhite costs 17k lol, and it is the 16Gb one. The prices have jumped for Kobo as well, the black and white Clara was 14k, color was 16 and libra color was 20k But, every e-reader is worth it (except for the latest ki

Novels
You must've been reading L0lil0l0's posts. Don't, that guy has no clue what he's talking about. 😄 Of course you can read novels on X4 and X3, why couldn't you. Are they ideal? Not at all, but then neither are my Kindle Paperwhite and my Kobo Clara.
