HE or TMR for first magnetic keyboard?

Sensor doesn't matter really, the magmech sockets in the Fun60 might if you want the option to back out to electromechanical switches if magnetic doesn't cut it for you... but you can get whole other 60% keyboard for the price difference, and probably better software too. I would wait until the Keyc

75% he keyboard suggestion

Keychron J2 HE. https://www.amazon.com/Keychron-Keyboard-Hot-Swappable-Ultra-Fast-Non-Shine-Through/dp/B0GD7FLJFF The cheapest QMK firmware magnetic board you can get. They have told me they will be releasing the source code.

So my keyboard died, again..

Get a Keychron J2 he. It's relatively inexpensive particularly for a Keychron, it's got a great layout, and it's got TMR sensors and qmk firmware.

Newbie Keeb recommendation

Changing the case is not really practical in most boards over 60%, and even for small boards you have the deliberately look for Pok3r/GH60 style options to get that ability. The one exception is the YMDK YMD75: YMDK has a number of cases for it and you can also use some KPRepublic cases with minor s

Brand new K2 HE not working

I tried out the Glorious tactile magnetics at Microcenter and they were kind of only nominally tactile, which makes sense - a proper poppy tactile would make the whole variable actuation capability meaningless. I've been looking at the XVX Whisper rubber dome tactiles, but they're north-pole down an

Good Mechanical keyboard

Most Redragon keyboards are proprietary junk, but there are a few exceptions. This one is really aamzing for the price, AL case, QMK firmware: Redragon k739 * ($65) Aula are all proprietary junk. Other good options: Akko 5075B VIA * ($60 barebones) YMDK YMD75 * ($64-$110 diy) CIDOO QK61 * ($51) Skyloong

HE or TMR for first magnetic keyboard?

The fun60 does have some appeal with the option to switch back to mechanical, but if you're not tied to that feature, it might not be worth the extra cost... Waiting for the Keychron J2 HE could give you better options, especially if you prioritize software and support.

please help a keyboard newbie to buy correctly

Get a QMK board so you don't get "helpful" keyboard software preventing you from changing "system" keys. Particularly for a 60% board because you can use mod-tap to create a virtual arrow cluster. Any QMK board has 1k polling. Faster than that doesn't really help. For a magnetic board the best optio

Best budget 75% MacOS wireless keyboard with knob?(brown switches)

Get a keyboard with QMK firmware so you have full control over the layout without any proprietary drivers. Aula is proprietary firmware and drivers only. Many boards have no prebuilt mac key-caps but there are plenty of sets with mac-specific legends or novelties that can be swapped out. As a mac us
