Bearing in mind that some "premium" boards are kind of bad, so this isn't THAT huge a hurdle. Actually "better" or at least in the same class. I would say I like the 5075 VIA better than any aluminum board because it's not a chonk: Akko 5075B VIA is rather good. Comes with extra parts so when you lo

And yet that software is state of the art and better than basically every proprietary alternative. For example, most proprietary boards only have two layers. Main and function. Some don't allow you independent programming of the function layer at all. A few add an alternate profile layer for main an

There is no such thing as "qmk launcher". Qmk is a set of C programs that provide keyboard services to a keyboard. A qmk-based keyboard uses qmk firmware to do all the keyboard stuff. You configure a qmk keyboard through a web application... either VIA or VIAL. Keycron's keyboards are based on qmk f

Changing the case is not really practical in most boards over 60%, and even for small boards you have the deliberately look for Pok3r/GH60 style options to get that ability. The one exception is the YMDK YMD75: YMDK has a number of cases for it and you can also use some KPRepublic cases with minor s

Not all of them are like this - the systematic issues are mainly contained to a few lines (gasket mounted only). You might like the J2 - seems to be what you’re looking for, so far it doesn’t seem to have any of these issues.. https://www.keychron.com/products/keychron-j2-qmk-wireless-mechanical-key

Seriously, I would open the case and examine the row for physical damage to the sockets and traces. A detached or semi-detached socket or diode or pull-up/down resistor can screw up a whole row like this. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3mYfXfj-nJQ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rMat-5V5J10 https:/

Keychron J2 HE 8k It's Keychron so the firmware is QMK based, not some random proprietary code base. The source is not yet online but they say it will be within a month, and I've tested the source for the electromechanical version and it works.

Ah, ok. This is my first Keychron keyboard, but I have heard a lot of praise for Keychron so far. I am still new to QMK/VIA, and from the product page it looked like the J2 supported it, so I wanted to compare the features of VIA to the ones the launcher offered. But I could not get VIA to work with

The Keychron J2 supports shine-through better than the V1, since it has north facing sockets (LED at the top of the socket to shine through the face of the keycap). Make sure you get the hotswap version. The yellow/banana switches are the smoothest tactiles they have. The YMDK YMD75 is a barebones w

Redragon K715 * ($30) Jamesdonkey/Keychron J2 * ($70) The extra price for the Jamesdonkey J2 is worth it but it does put you over your budget.
