Speakers that produce room filing sound that is enjoyable even off-axis

Plus 1 for KEF. Was facing a similar situation and got a pair of KEF Q3 meta’s and RSL speedwoofer 10e powered by a Denon 760 off the TV. We have an open floor plan where the kitchen, dining room, and living room all flow together and we listen to music while cooking and eating and it sounds really

KEF Q3 or KEF Q350 in bookcase

Both models are very similar but unless the price difference is large go with the Q3 Meta because it is the newer model and has a bit more refined sound, particularly in the upper frequencies. Generally speaking, putting ANY speaker in a bookcase is a bad idea. That said KEFs seem to do better than

First proper setup

I’m really liking them so far. They were a big improvement over what I was using before, and I did get to compare them in-store against speakers like the B&W 606 and KEF Q3 Meta, which were clearly better but also a fair bit more expensive. For the money, the Encels felt like the best choice and I’m

KEF Q3 Meta vs KEF Q350

First, crossing the speakers over to your subwoofer at 80Hz is absolutely essential. If you don't, then whatever numbers I say after this are not going to be relevant. When you run these speakers full range, and really try to push the deep bass, you will hit the excursion limits of the Uni-Q's midwo

KEF Q3 Meta vs KEF Q350

Your KEF Q350s are not really 8-ohm speakers (they dip to 3.7 ohms across a range of frequencies). The Q3 Metas are properly rated at 4 ohms, but they dip to 3.2 ohms. Your Q650 is the only speaker that stays above 4 ohms (4.2). Neither of those amps is going to like driving five channels of low-imp

LSX ii LT or Q3 Meta with Wiim amp pro?

Q3 meta’s and wiim all the way. I love KEF, I’ve had 6 pairs over the last few years… I can only sing their praises across the board. I just see so many people talking about issues with active speakers and subs. Just from a reliability stance I reckon you steer clear of the LSX’s. The Q3’s have a bi

Thinking about upgrading my Q3 meta

OP - you can the COMPARE function at spinorama.org to put all of these speakers head to head in terms of measured performance and predicted in room response. if you do - you will see a slight improvement in linearity stepping from the Q3 to Concerto, and a significant improvement in bass extension b

KEF purchase (or not)?

You're right. All KEF speakers need 4-ohm stable amplification, and any that rely solely on a single Uni-Q driver for full-range (Q150/Q1 Meta, Q350/Q3 Meta, LS50/LS50 Meta) for anything other than nearfield listening must be used with a subwoofer and high-passed to protect them from low frequencies

Kef LSX II LT or Coda W

Not sure about discontinued, but i've seen a shift away from selling them via audiophile channels to mass sales via costco. whereas the LSX II are still selling at high cost audio-oriented sites, at 3x the price of the 'LT' version. I agree with you that the Coda have larger drivers, a larger cabine

First pair of “good” speakers

I was torn between these and the KEF Q3 Metas. Spent quite a bit of time listening to both at the store, and in the end, I went with these — I guess my ears lean more toward the 'brighter' side of the spectrum.Tried them with the foam bungs, but honestly, I prefer how they sound without them. Still
