All KEF speakers need 4-ohm stable amplification, and any that rely solely on a single Uni-Q driver for full-range (Q150/Q1 Meta, Q350/Q3 Meta, LS50/LS50 Meta) for anything other than nearfield listening must be used with a subwoofer and high-passed to protect them from low frequencies

You're right. My bad, not the R3 meta but the Q3 Meta I checked. So my experience with the KEF sounding muffled is with the Q3 Meta, not sure how much the KEF R3 difference to the Q3. I personally think your money would be better spent on a subwoofer, and just don’t turn it up loud enough to annoy people. But yes, the q3 meta pair should give you more bass across the board If you have the cash however, the Q Concerto Meta pair will be an upgrade in every way including bass
