Agreed. Also KRK's are not that flat out of the box for producing. A pair that will be flatter without additional EQ would be the Kali Audio LP6 V2 or LP8 V2. I'd say get the LP8 and see if you need a sub. The KRK subs are pretty great though if you decide you need one. (the 8.4 or 10.4).

Speaker recommendation for bedroom and mini house party

Look into Kali Audio LP-6 or LP-8 monitors. Plenty of power and bass is punchy enough for a living room with 10 people in it. You can always add a sub to this setup in the future.

You can easily turn up monitor speakers to a reasonable volume, especially active ones which have a built in dsp with a limiter (you will blow your HiFi speakers way before you blow these).
