New B&O Speakers

For a smart speaker brand, it's great, and I definitely can't argue with the bass output. But bass frequency alone doesn't make a good speaker. The Apple Homepod can do 20Hz at 10dB higher than the Sonos Five, that doesn't make it a good speaker. For accuracy and overall sound quality it's still eas

Second Pair of Monitors: Smaller with additional Subwoofer or 8"?

My speakers are Eris 5s Those are ok for what they cost, but honestly, some JBLs, Kalis, Yamahas, etc would be an improvement over those, and in my opinion a more significant improvement than extending the frequency range of a just-ok pair of speakers. Look into the JBL 308P MkII and Kali LP-8.

Looking for PA speakers that can function as studio monitors and have an "enveloping" quality

Cheap, big/loud/enveloping, accurate/clean/lacking distortion. Pick two. You can't simultaneously defy the laws of physics and economics. Plus, the bigger the sound you want, the further away you need to be from it for the sound to gel. For cost efficiency with a bigger sound, JBL 308P or Kali IN8 a

Suggestion for speakers for home under 40k

At this bracket you must try the S series from Edifier. They are powered/active, so you save on amplifier. Another thing to consider is the JBL 308P Mk2; I have these. I drive these with my Wiim Pro Plus with room correction. Total was below 37,000. My room is 220 sq. ft. and I've never gone beyond

How do you listen to your synths while making music?

Headphones mostly to be considerate of my lovely wife who shares this apartment with me. When we move and I have a dedicated room? Most likely studio monitors - pondering upgrading to Adam A8H and a Sub12; but that'll be lower on the list as my JBL 308p Mk II's are fine, just cosmetically damaged (t

Monitors vs. Live Sound?

JBL 308p should be great. Or maybe you could consider LP8 as well. IN8 would be cool for mixing but might not have the same fun vibe.

Any experience with purchasing from Rockville audio

If you can I would get the 308P, it's so much better and probably doesn't cost that much more. https://www.audiosciencereview.com/forum/index.php?threads/jbl-308p-mkii-studio-monitor-review.17338/ https://noaudiophile.com/JBL_LSR308/ B-stock from JBL is only $181 each. https://www.jbl.com/pro-b-stoc

To FLAC or not to FLAC? Search of opinion from people who really using this format.

I use 3 denon sc6000m that are hooked up to my nexusx2, I use nothing but high quality flac files. They are by far the best sounding files, specially if you have quality speakers ( jbl 308p ) you can hear everything in hi definition...

Most minimal way to join in on the audiophile fun?

What is your budget? JBL 308p (customer returns) for $340 is a pretty good entry point. https://www.proaudiostar.com/2x-jbl-308p-mkii-customer-return.html edit: at $2k budget I would troll USAudioMart. I was able to get some Revel F206 for $1k, but you need to wait and be willing to pick up to find
