audio rabbit hole is the most expensive detour in the desk setup game, glad you made it out alive. jbl 305p mkii + ws 6.2 combo is a legit jump over most prosumer setups. the 305s have that slightly scooped mid that people either love or tolerate, but paired with a real sub it fills in the low end n

Studio monitors sound thin compared to headphones

Studio monitors are designed to have a flat response. If you want beefer sound, get a subwoofer. Source: I have two JBL 305P MKII studio monitors and a JBL LSR 310 S woofer. They sound great and clear!

Which 5” monitors would you pick for a tiny room?

JBL 305P. It's a known good performer that's used by professionals in the industry. If the bass gets overwhelming in a small room you can always stuff the ports. Room gain will compensate for the reduced lows.

The Volume vs Bass Boxing Match

I really don't see what the matter was. In the first instance, I can hear the bass nice and fat chugging away with body and all (in my JBL 305's monitors for reference). More volume doesn't necessarily mean less bass. So many genres are loud af (see brostep, riddim, or any dubstep genres lol) that h

Any experience with purchasing from Rockville audio

If you can I would get the 308P, it's so much better and probably doesn't cost that much more. https://www.audiosciencereview.com/forum/index.php?threads/jbl-308p-mkii-studio-monitor-review.17338/ https://noaudiophile.com/JBL_LSR308/ B-stock from JBL is only $181 each. https://www.jbl.com/pro-b-stoc

Go play 3 or stanmore-acton 3?

Go+Play3 by far, way deeper bass and overall sound quality. It ranks #7 in the Boombox size rankings while the Stanmore is #30 Although if you don't plan to move it around or need a battery, the $300 JBL 305P MKII or $350 Kali LP-UNF bookshelf speakers will sound even better for about the same amoun

Help with speakers

I wouldn't go for anything cheaper. Personally, I would check the used market in your area. You can often find nicer speakers used for $150-$200. If you don't find anything of interest, there are some customer return JBL 305p at prostaraudio for $195 a pair. For $15 more than the DM-40, that would b

Thinking of selling my Acton 3 and switching to studio monitors - will I regret it?

I don't own an Action 3, but have dealt with many other non neutral speakers and it's night and day better moving to studio monitors assuming you're doing mixing/recording or care about a neutral speaker with proper soundstage. The pinned post has also ranked every powered studio monitor brand you m
