Found some 100% shielded speakers - Yamaha MSP5, the setup is complete... for now
Have been on the hunt for some fully shielded speakers for a while now. Had been using jbl studio 530s and 305p mkIIs, but both needed to be about a foot away and this setup needs them close to be at ear level. I did use audioengine hd3s for a bit, but they're pretty weak. I also tried shielding the

What monitors are you rocking and do you rate them?
I’ve a pair of JBL 305, and at about $500 AUD I think they were great value. I could definitely do with some stands or a bit of room correction to bring out their best though.

Which 5” monitors would you pick for a tiny room?
JBL 305P. It's a known good performer that's used by professionals in the industry. If the bass gets overwhelming in a small room you can always stuff the ports. Room gain will compensate for the reduced lows.

Has anyone experienced a system that made them stop thinking about sound entirely?
since i bought my jbl 305 monitors i never ever looked any further (except for treating my room). it just sounds like pure bliss. the best way to actually improve the sound is to practice mindfulness and active listening. being at peace. that's what sounds good. if i'm mad or jumpy, music won't soun

Never seen this! I had some jbl companions years ago. Saw a list on here and picked both jbls up (305p mkii and 530 studios) based on it. Those did fine until I tried up close. Thanks for sharing this, I may look for others in the future

Help with speakers
I wouldn't go for anything cheaper. Personally, I would check the used market in your area. You can often find nicer speakers used for $150-$200. If you don't find anything of interest, there are some customer return JBL 305p at prostaraudio for $195 a pair. For $15 more than the DM-40, that would b

Thinking about buying speakers in an untreated room
honestly i feel you on the dt990 frustration. some people just click better with speakers even in untreated rooms. i've been down this road before and what helped was getting monitors that have front ports or sealed designs since they're less fussy about wall placement. the jbl 305p mkii works surpr

Studio Monitors
No need for $30k monitors—killer ones under $1k crush hype. Kali LP-6 v2 ($400/pair): bass punch, nearfield champ. JBL 305P MkII ($300): accurate mids, front-ported. PreSonus Eris E5 ($250): balanced starter. ADAM T5V ($450): ribbon detail shines. Adam T7V great if bumping budget. Skip Shelvo gl

Small room / desk against wall — which speakers/monitors should I buy?
Given your setup (desk against wall, ~10cm from the back wall), the speaker choice matters less than how they handle boundary proximity. Rear-ported monitors can get boomy fast that close to a wall. That’s why something like the JBL 305P MkII is actually a solid choice: they handle close-to-wall pla
