5 years later and this post saved me from a huge hassle. Disabling PCIe ASPM support in the bios of my Intel NUC8i7BEH solved the issue of the system freezing when either disconnecting the HDMI cable or just turning the monitor off. Nothing else seemed to work until this fix. Thank you u/tyanu_khah!

I like the port selection on it Agreed, no other Intel/Asus NUC Enthusiast matched the port selection. Plus it could unofficially support 6(or was it 8) display outputs at once, what a beast for its time

Just about any mini PC would work if all you need is a bit of CPU grunt and some storage in a small box. Look at the various "standard" Intel NUC machines from the Wikipedia article starting at 8th gen Coffee Lake-U. Ignore all the stuff with skulls on them etc. A good example is the NUC8i5BEH, whic

I had a similar issue with my NUC 8's (NUC8i7BEH). Turns out, in order to stop them from freezing after ~10 min I just needed to keep something plugged into the HDMI out. For a while I used some HDMI dummy dongles which worked great. These days I use remote KVM units anyways. I wonder what could be
