Newcomer to the FGC, and really struggling with motion inputs.

Both stick and dpad are valid. I use stick on a Hori octa commander and it feels great. A lot of people do prefer pad though, find what feels best for you. And honestly, it will just come with time. Work on feeling out the individual movements of the inputs in slow motion. For example. Ryu Hadouken

What are some good pad controllers for sf6? I use the analog stick and am looking for a new one.

i use the hori fighting commander octa, it has 6 face buttons on mouse switches. I don't use the stick, but it is very precise and the circle is octagon-shaped so it's easier to find the directions. some models don't have a right stick, however. goes for around 60 bones

finally bought my first stick! how and where do i get started?

I got the Hori Fighting Commander Octa. The analog stick is really nice (you can feel each direction) and it has a pretty good d-pad.

Why is it such a commonly and strongly held opinion that analog stick is objectively bad for fighting games?

Because it is an objective fact. They are a bother to use, slow, wonky and unprecise due to usually not having a gate at all (controllers like Hori Octa being an exception). Just because someone uses it doesn't mean anything. You can play with your feet if you want. And pros that do use analog stick

Is it good to play SF6 with a controller using the analog stick?

I exclusively use the analog stick, but I have the Hori Fight Commander Octa where you can feel each point of direction as you move the stick. It’s great. Before that, i was d-pad all the way

Ia dualshock4 good to use?

I tried playing strive on my ps5 and ps4 controllers few weeks ago when i was starting out and it felt pretty bad tbh. Analog stick has insane sensitivity and i was accidently jumping all the time, and dpad felt very bad (even tho i dont play on dpad) Tho i think majority of the players play on thos

I play on Analogue and use the Hori Fighting Commander Octa. It's decent enough and as the other user mentioned, octagonal. It has little grooves for each direction that makes it easier to feel and confirm the direction your holding/moving the stick in
