New Year, New Mayor! Mamdani already getting right to work!!!
The first thing I noticed about this photo, and I have no idea if it was intentional or not, is the chair. That is not what you expect to see for an executive chair of this level. You'd expect to see something that's more about looks and prestige than performance. This is a Herman Miller Aeron, not

Sys admins who are still remote.
Herman Miller Aeron. Provided great support when I was almost 400lbs. Still providing great support when I'm down to 220. Bought it in 2020 and still works like new. No issues. Great quality product. It's expensive but worth every penny imo.

What is a 'buy it for life' item that is offensively expensive, but the moment you use it, you realize your entire life before that point was a lie?
When my previous job closed the office and shifted everybody fully remote they let some of us take chairs so I got a free Herman Miller Aeron chair which retails for $2k. It has been life changing for my back.

Productivity vs. Ergonomics: MacBook's built-in deck is faster for me, but it's destroying my neck and wrists. How do I bridge the gap?
Just put the MacBook on the desk, put a monitor on an arm above it and use the MacBook keyboard and trackpad. This is what I’ve done for 15 years, no back or joint problems in that time. What was giving me back problems before that was a bad chair and desk. Moving to an Herman Miller Aeron chair and

Ok, at my age I have a list of items I won’t skimp on at this point. What are yours?
If you work a lot from a computer, get a very good desk chair. I've used a Herman-Miller Aeron for the better part of 20 years and it has saved my back. One of the best purchases I ever made. Get a membership at a good gym with an experienced trainer. Not one of those roided-up gymbros but someone w

What’s something that cost over $1,000 but felt totally worth it after you bought it?
It may not feel that different when you first sit, but after a full workday with my Herman Miller I feel as fresh as I did when I first sat down. With other office chairs I've had I would need to adjust my posture pretty often bc it would create pressure points and make my butt and legs sore over ho

Gaming Chair?
Please do not get a gaming chair. Gaming chairs are based on racing car seats which are intended to keep you in the seat when driving not be comfortable for 8 hours at a time. Gaming stuff tends to be over priced and the faux leather breaks down and doesn't last like a mesh office chair would. Go to

Ergonomic mesh office chairs are overrated
Not all ergonomic chairs are created equal. You actually have to adjust the chair to your body and sit properly. No chair works for everyone. Herman Miller Aeron is great for me, but a Mira 2 kills my back, and I hated the Steelcase Leaps they had at my last job. Ergonomic chairs are not supposed to

Save my back from literal death pls
Ok as someone who uses IT a lot and works from home your issue isn’t just the chair. First - Herman Miller Aeron for the chair. You can get one from eBay at a good price and it will be the best chair youve owned. Then realise having a laptop on a desk is going to kill your back too. Laptop stand fro
