google/nest wifi point needs a google/nest wifi router to work. 3rd gen nest wifi stuff is not backwards compatible with 1st or 2nd gen, id suggest the 2nd gen router.

New Mesh Wifi Advice

Maybe a hot take, but why not just buy another Google Nest WiFi system? Since you know it works, but your existing set just started to fail. If you buy the same system (new or like new condition) then it should work well for you.

Do most mesh WiFi products support guest networks?

Pre Google is onHub. onHub then Google then Google Nest, now Nest. Just to be clear, Nest's guest DOES NOT separate 2.4Ghz from your 5Ghz. It does separate guest networks from your main SSID.
