Mobile Hotspots?!
Right now the best option is the GL iNet GL-XE3000 "Puli AX". The big win for this unit is the battery and the multiple WAN ports with a built in load balancer. Plus you can run both external and internal antennas for the LAN and WAN.

The Mudi has Landed.
I think mine is defective... :( It won't connect to the cellular network even if I had the correct APN settings. I verified this because I have a Puli AX and my 2 SIM cards work on the Puli AX. It gets stuck connecting and sometimes just says "Oops" and to contact GL.iNet support. Oh well...

5G router for travel and office?
GL.iNet Spitz AX (or Puli AX if you want a battery). Amazing performance. I’ve had up to 1.4Gbps over 5G. They sell a “physical eSIM” card separately but cheaply. It allows you to use an eSIM QR code.

Is a 200€ 5g router better than finding a cheaper 5g phone and use it as a perennal hotspot?
If you want something with a lot of tweaking possibilities and fine tuning, try GL-iNet Puli AX or Spitz AX. They both support 5G nano-sim cards and come installed with OpenWRT.

What has more range the puli ax or slate 7
This. And… I actually asked this very same question of some others recently. I also asked GL.iNet Staff and got varying answers. I think it 100% depends on the usage environment and purpose. I use the Slate 7 as an outdoor router to setup an outdoor powered WiFi stretching across baseball and soccer
