To avoid detection, you must move the VPN off your laptop and onto a dedicated hardware device. This creates a "black box" environment: your work laptop simply thinks it is plugged into a standard router at home, unaware that the router is actually tunneling data across the globe. Here is the step-by

The model linked above (that I also own) is the GL.iNet GL-MT3000 - Beryl AX Portable Travel Router, Pocket Wi-Fi 6. I've been full time travelling just shy of 2 yrs now and this is in my top 5 list of absolute essentials. The portal page for the GLI has dedicated little workflow to get you through

Hi, It’s not possible to connect to a WiFi that requires a web portal login. On top of that, those networks usually have device isolation enabled, which prevents devices from communicating with each other. You can try creating a mobile hotspot from your Windows computer for your trackers to connect

You'll want something like the GL-iNet Beryl or Slate AX - they're solid travel routers that can run VPN clients directly on the device. Just plug the ethernet into the router, set up your VPN service on it, then connect your devices to the router's wifi instead of the apartment's network

Check out Tailscale — it pretty much does everything you’re describing. It builds a secure mesh VPN between your devices, so you can reach your PLC network from anywhere without messing with port forwarding or IT approvals. Grab a GL.iNet travel router (Mango, Slate AX, etc.), plug it into your cont

I think our little Portal tribe is awesome and helpful. I forgot about my travel router. I use the GL.iNet GL-SFT1200 (Opal) and the price point is significantly lower than the Slate 7 aka Slate AX just curious as to why the Slate is preferred over the Opal

That's exactly what I'm going to do. I need two of them to cover my house, but GL I. Net are awesome. So far I have a travel router and a VPN server from them, but they are awesome. I used to have a Meraki network (with 2 APs, a switch and a security appliance) - but that was overkill. So I am defin

+1 for a GL.iNet travel router. The Beryl AX (MT-3000) is a great option and is currently on sale so it's only $76 shipped and it's worth every penny.

GL.iNet travel routers would provide you with the bridge back to wired Ethernet for you home lab and give you the option for a personal SSID. The new GL-BE3600 Dual-Band Wi-Fi 7 and 2.5G networking. You won’t get that speed out to the internet, but it can make moving files internally faster.

AP is the answer. For a 5th wheel I’d suggest a GL.iNet travel router. The slate AX or the Slate 7 are solid. You can set them up in access point mode or router mode. There’s some learning that’s needed but it’ll be worth your while.
