Zonesense vs Garmin

My old FR955 GPS accuracy was pretty poor and given I’m mostly training for elevation gain, I was sick of variation between efforts. Looking at replacement Garmin options - they didn’t appeal to me from an aesthetic (not my style) and feature standpoint (excessive, mostly turned off for how I use a

GPS interference due to heavy tree cover

Any watch with all-system multiband would be better than your Venu 2s. My garmin FR955 with that is substantially better than my FR245, but I do still have some issues with instant pace not feeling right in heavy cover scenarios. Note that how bad trees are varies a bit - high humidity and rain also

Adventure Trail Mapping - Suunto vs Garmin vs Coros

Effectively I think you are possibly looking at two different functions: the navigation / map details on the watch itself - for when you track etc (have you also maybe considered a handheld which may be easier to use for this type functionality). the app/web eco system and what that offers - with th

Achievements for Sunday, March 22, 2026

Uiam Lake LSD 26k - Round 2 of the watch battle (3/22) Perfect Sunday for a long scenic run around Uiam Lake in Chuncheon. Started at Uiam Park where Gongji Stream meets the lake, circled south along the eastern shore for 13k, then returned. The eastern shore is my favorite - wooden decks carved int

Garmin v. Coros

Garmin forerunner 955 solar, it’s probably a little out of your budget, it’s 2 generations old but has an insane battery life. I’ve had mine 2 years and I wear it everyday. I can get over 10hrs of GPS running before I need a charge and with no gps a charge is good for close to 2 weeks.

Should I buy Garmin Fenix 6 pro Solar?

If you really need maps, your options are 955 and 965, as cheaper Forerunner 165 and 2xx options don't have onboard maps at all. I've been using Garmin watches with maps (Fenix 6X Solar, Forerunner 955 Solar and now Forerunner 970) for the past ~6 years in various different scenarios and even with a

Garmin → Coros switch worth it?

I recently switched from Garmin to Coros. My Forerunner 955 Solar's barometric sensor / altimeter was doing whatever it wanted. I was out of warranty and Garmin offered me 25% off on MSRP in their webshop. What I wanted was accurate GPS, HR, Altimeter, good battery life, offline music and offline ma

Why AWU over the likes of Garmin?

Moved from Garmin FR955 to AWU3. I wanted cellular connectivity in my wrist to be able to take calls from my family and listen to audiobooks on long runs while not having to bring my phone. Other features that pulled me over are satellite connectivity for trail runs, being able to use Apple find my

Weird treadmill pace on Garmin watch (via QZ/ANT+)

Ok, so I tested both options (getting treadmill data to my Garmin): QZ/ANT+ metrics to Forerunner 955, starting a treadmill workout on the watch. The speed and distance reported are still completely weird, see first post. I also noticed that they are also reported line this in Garmin Connect. Natura
