Gos collar

We use a garmin GPS collar on both of ours (like the ones a lot of hunters use). They’re great, but expensive. You can track them up to 9 miles and the collars can beep, vibrate, and shock. We trained ours that the beep means come back. The vibrate is basically used as a deterrent or if they’re lock

GPS Track and Train

I’ve actually got 2 systems. Garmin Pro 550 with PT10. And then the Garmin Alpha 10 with T20. Reason being is I have my dog on an e-collar for a lot of things that isn’t hunting (walking around town, off leash in the park, roaming in the woods next to my house, etc.) where I don’t need a big ol’ ant

New to hunting dogs.

Drill recall as much as you can while you are out in the woods. Roads kill dogs and squirrels and rabbits and deer run with out fear. I have an e collar while I hunt for the gps but it also beeps vibrates and can shock. I have my dog trained to recall on the beep, vibrate to correct, then small shoc

ECollar Recommendation

I have the Garmin Alpha 300i with TT25 collars for my bird dogs and like it a lot. I had the 200i with TT15 minis prior. I prefer the 25’s. My friend has the Dogtra Pathfinder for her 4 GSP’s and she really likes it.

New to Hunting, what e-collar would you recommend?

If you can stomach the cost, I'm a fan of the Garmin Alpha 200/300 series. It might be overkill for some, but being able to track where and how many miles my dogs have gone is pretty fun to see and allows me to plan for rest periods to keep from overworking them during hunting season. I can also pul

Way to force GPS updates w/o lost mode on v3?

Yeah I mean I have a laser cutter and a caulk gun and can easily make a weatherproof box that would allow for charging the collar and everything. Right now the safe zone is set to just the barn, but since the wifi reaches the barn the collar just shows him at the house with the base as long as he's

GPS tracker for non-hunters

Lots of good Garmin recommendations and I agree. To differentiate, the 550+ is an ecollar with GPS. The Alpha units are a GPS with an ecollar. There is a lot more functionality with the Alphas but they are easy to operate if you focus on just the map and compass functions. That's the main functional

Gear questions: anyone trade in a Garmin pro 550 with lion country supply; and any reason not to upgrade to an alpha 200I?

I run an alpha 200i, a 550 Pro+, and a garmin watch together. I hook the alpha to my chest on my left side and hang the 550 off a belt loop. If you’re only running one dog then the Alpha is great. I love the ability to mark waypoints for every covey I find and that it beeps when my dog is on point.
