Keeping Dog Close in Back Country

You either need perfect recall or a leash i guess. If I think there could be moose nearby, you better believe my pup is leashed up. Surely there’s not deadfall every step you take? Undo when necessary, leash up when necessary. If your dog will run off at a deer or moose, you probably need a reality

Finally upgraded

Haha his gps collar is already enough expensive jewellery for him. And yeah, its a lifesaver in the field when we’re hunting. I never look at my handheld screen anymore, just down at my wrist. And the days i was in the middle of nowhere and my old watch wouldnt connect, it sucked. I definitely recom

Husband wants a Brittany Spaniel- help me with some knowledge!

Quieter than the a Husky, but 4x the energy They will hunt..for something! They do not want to run away, they want track and pursue pray..and might get lost in the possess or run across roads. If you do not have a fence, they will be a source on anxiety, unless you are using a quality GPS collar (li

My girl took off for the first time today - hopefully it’s just a one off?

We used to have a farm/cottage property that had very poor cell reception so I bought a Garmin GPS collar for my daughter’s dog. It was a little clunky as it needed its own dedicated receiver but it was totally reliable and the collar battery was good for a couple of days. My daughter’s dog is very

Tracking Collars

Name of the game for tracking/ecollar will be Garmin. If you want a very basic system, the Garmin 550 Pro has a very basic arrow/footage indicator on the controller. Alternatively if you just need gps in emergency, we use a Garmin 550 standard ecollar (no gps) and a Tractive collar that runs off cel

New to Hunting, what e-collar would you recommend?

That collar is probably fine assuming it's waterproof. I believe e collar technologies is a bit less popular with the hunting crowds than they are with pet people. 0.5 miles is about 800 yards, but it will be less effective with obstructions. That said - my logic - with all the time, effort, care, e

GPS/tracking collar recommendations?

If you want something that is going to work in the woods every time, Garmin is the answer. Any of the GPS collars that use cell service will fail outside of populated areas. A barebones garmin setup is over $700 so it's not a casual investment, but it also doesn't require any subscriptions like the

Exercise + enrichment for puppy

I would say with our boys the chuck it balls were and still are our first boys thing. He would fetch to the point of exhaustion. I would highly recommend a e collar and garmin being the better one to get. The off leash and fetch did wonders at the end of the day and made him pure muscle. This breed

Tracking collar recs?

Garmin has an e collar with tracking that has a pretty far range. it won’t automatically correct but you could do it yourself on the controller. I also have a fi collar that shows general location but isn’t as accurate I feel

Gos collar

We use a garmin GPS collar on both of ours (like the ones a lot of hunters use). They’re great, but expensive. You can track them up to 9 miles and the collars can beep, vibrate, and shock. We trained ours that the beep means come back. The vibrate is basically used as a deterrent or if they’re lock
