I spent months chasing sour and bitter shots and it turned out to be headspace —> Dose by volume!! [Lelit Elizabeth/Timemore 078s]

There is a related question that I don't understand. The most common beginner setup is a Gaggia Classic Pro, and most beginner guides on internet call for a 18g dose. People getting into espresso literally all get the same advice: a) buy a GCP, b) dose 18g. But the stock unpressurized double-shot ba

Nice extraction

Yeah. The magic is you putting the time in. Changing things to your preference. At the big shops you don't know the last time they cleaned the machine or if things have changed since they last dialed in. The one third wave shop nearish to me usually beats what I can do, but often I find I can someti

Can't decide what grinder is best for beginner? [$200-300]

My robusta/arabica blend supposedly is so hard... i can barely grind (Kingrinder K6) it and the shot still runs for 14-15sec... to grind finer i need to tilt the grinder almost horizontally and grind for about 1:30-2min... I didn't have problem with it before, but it took 40-45sec with my old machin

What's the Best Espresso Machine for Home Use Widely Loved by Aficionados?

I have the Lelit Victoria PL91T at home. Chosen after long comparisons. Went from a Gaggia Classic Pro. Way better experience. Cannot recommend more. Excellent price/quality ratio for me.

First setup 😮‍💨😭

I just got my Ele last week, I cannot recommend it enough coming from a gaggia classic pro 2019. If you can stretch the budget for it you won't be disappointed.

Tried to build the ultimate mid-budget setup... What would you change?

I’ve had a sette 270 for years. After upgrading my Gaggia classic pro to a dual boiler, the shot quality is night and day. So assuming you get a good grind, the machine makes a massive difference, way more than people on here would have you believe. It actually shocked me how different the shot qual

Should I just buy the damn Gaggia? [$500] ish budget

I have a Gaggia Classic Pro now for almost four years. (This is the pre "Evo" version, in fact it is a 30 anniversary version. I understand the E24 looks like a nicer machine with a brass boiler). It seriously needs service. It stopped being reliable for espressos about three weeks ago, but could st

Would you buy a 7y/o BDB for [$500]

Thanks for the detailed response. I was considering a gaggia classic pro, just seems a little inadequate without significant mods to it

Finally upgrading to a nice machine

Just bought one after seeing your post. Upgrading from a gaggia classic pro. Kinda getting tired of the temp fluctuations and pulling sour shots.
