Never owned an espresso machine before. Got this as a gift. Am I in over my head?

Bianca is much easier to use than a Gaggia Classic Pro. Start by reading the instruction manual. That will tell you what the knobs and buttons do. Then look at some YouTube videos on how to dial in espresso. The EAF guide is also a great resource for learning how: https://espressoaf.com/guides/begin

I spent months chasing sour and bitter shots and it turned out to be headspace —> Dose by volume!! [Lelit Elizabeth/Timemore 078s]

There is a related question that I don't understand. The most common beginner setup is a Gaggia Classic Pro, and most beginner guides on internet call for a 18g dose. People getting into espresso literally all get the same advice: a) buy a GCP, b) dose 18g. But the stock unpressurized double-shot ba

$10.50 Love Story (Thrift Find)

My first espresso machine ever is the delonghi dedica, moded it as much as possible similar to what u did , with only one thing extra, the rancilio style steam wand mod for the dedica , found on amazon ( it's a must , if u want to have an easier milk froth process) . The dedica became a perfect mach

Puck screen increasing channeling [G3028A, DF64V]

It should work without any puck screen and without paper, if it doesn't then I suggest first get the extraction working without those. Your machine supports some sort of pre-infusion and pre-soaking, i suggest you play with that, because the flat burr grinder don't produce that much fine particles.

Ascaso Steel duo plus vs Lelit Mara X V2 [3000$]

I’ve had my Lelit Mara X V2 for almost a year and love it. No issues and I pull a consistent shot every day. I’ll turn it on while getting ready for work and it’s ready in about 15 minutes. I had a modded Gaggia Classic Pro before but felt like I spent too much time tinkering and troubleshooting it.

Lelit Glenda PlusT, Gaggia Classic E24 or Rancilio Silvia V6 as a base for modding with Gaggimate Pro?

I have seen teardowns of both the Profitec and Rancilio - being a larger size with significantly more room to work with - the installation sound be much easier than the GCP E24. In the Gaggia you can only access from a confined space from above.

Profitec, lelit, Rocket, too much for a beginner [$3200]

I just bought a Lelit Bianca V3 a few months after getting a Gaggia Classic and having no idea what I was doing then. I think you can go straight to a machine like a Bianca if you have the budget. I lost a $100 after selling the Gaggia and accessories I bought. I planned to mod the GCP but decided a

“A broken heart yet a wide smile” - Happy Friday!

The single tip one apparently helps a lot. I’ve been practicing mostly with a solution made of dishwashing liquid and water, and though I can get a decent foam on the solution, the GCP fails to stretch it which causes problems when practicing Latte art. When I use GCP to steam milk it still gets hal

Should I upgrade my Gaggia or go for a Gaggimate?

A Rancilio Silvia with a Gaggimate is the direction I went. A little easier to work inside of than the Gaggia just because of space, and the steam wand is better by default. If you can find one second hand I like it more than my brothers Gaggia classic pro but I am biased (: good luck OP

First espresso machine for busy resident [$300-$600]

For your situation, I wouldn't get a Gaggia Classic Pro right now. It's a lot of tinkering, which I enjoy a ton, but I have the time for it. I do have a smart plug on it to warm up in the morning before I'm up though. I agree that nepresso is too expensive per cup (besides my loathing for Nestle in
