AT-VMN9E vs ATVM95ML stylus before and after
However something here still feels a bit off. I’ve spent shitloads of aud on this setup at this point and it still doesn’t sound as good as streaming, am I doing something wrong? Speakers: Edifier R1280DBs The speakers are bare minimum basic entry level often paired with the bare minimum basic entry

Too many records and nothing to play them with. Recs for the recs?
Edifier are too pricey now with all the recent price increases. 4" Edifier R1280DBs are $199 now :( too much for basic entry level starter speakers for a small room. If anyone wants powered speakers with a remote... Spend $20 more for the larger better 5.25" Neumi BSP5 ARC $219 and they add an HDMI

Do I need a preamp with my set up?
Also, make sure your speakers are set to the right input. Probably this, compounded by the fact that the R1280DBs has two RCA inputs (LINE1 / LINE2) but no specific button for each one and no indication whether LINE1 or LINE2 is active; you apparently have to just toggle through them until you land

I just got a free turntable!!!
the edifier r1280dbs sonically are an ok choice. financially they're a foolish choice. they're powered and you'd be using the preamp on the at deck so when you go to upgrade turntable or speakers you'll end up having to rebuy an external preamp and/or power amp. if you buy a nice amp or reciever wit

Turntable Guides
Just a decent new or used turntable is going to cost $200 to $250. Also I don't see anything near you. Everything will be Seattle and Tacoma area. Entry level turntables with adjustable tonearms: Manual with cue lever and auto stop Fluance RT80 $249. Automatic Denon DP-300F $249. Ideally get the bet

How did I do? First table and setup.
Instead of basic 4" Edifier 1280DBs, better larger 5" Magnat Monitor $99 on sale from $379 MSRP and they have a built in phono preamp to optionally use instead of the Rolls VP29.

Upgrading my vinyl setup — Marantz SR6006 + Polk RT35 for $225, worth it?
You’re totally right that dedicated 2-channel gear is usually the way to go for the best possible stereo performance, and I appreciate the input. In my case though, I picked up the Marantz SR6006 mostly because I found it locally in good condition, bundled with a pair of Polk RT35s, for about $225 t

Micca RB42 or Edifier R1855DB???
I own the rb42 and I recently listened to a different model edifier r1280dbs. I honestly prefer the RB over them. Much better bass response, clearer mids and highs too. Compared to other full sized bookshelf speakers, the RB's highs may sound slightly muddier but I think that's just due to the sheer
