why hasn't edelrid recalled the ohmega yet?
Interesting, this flew totally under the radar. Seems like the Ohmega deals with the same problematic locking mechanism as the Pinch - Edelrid will release an updated version of the Pinch addressing this issue.

not just you, unfortunately megawatt needs to be revised by edelrid (just like the pinch imo), because its famous for reaching its slippage age very very quickly

Why no more ATCs?
I was single pitch ice cragging the other day and switched from a Edelrid pinch (ABD) to my dmm pivot bc the ropes got icy and it was safer to use the pivot (ATC style). I usually bring my pivot with me when multi-pitching and leave the pinch in the car. TLDR: ATCs haven’t been replaced. Icy ropes a

There are devices that have EN12841C but not EN341, for example the Edelrid Pinch. And the certifications just require different things like different rope diameters, different weight limits etc. That's why each EN on the device comes with its own instructions. It's very common, for example the Petz

Misty Mountain Cadillac/Edelrid Pinch Combo Issue
Dmm phantom or camp photon are small/light. Also petzl attache or whatever (Smd?). I have rope soloed with the pinch on my Cadillac with a 19g looped through there as a backup but yea, it’s wide and I wouldn’t recommend it. If I use my pinch (only for LRS/ascending) it is with the Edelrid Bruce stee

rate my anchor
I use and teach the FPLB in certain situations. I saw that Edelrid says it's fine with the Pinch, but I'm reluctant to use it because of the increased force on the climber and to a lesser extent the lead protection. Tuber and Italian hitch work just fine and I don't know if the ABD functionality is

Hooked
I finished it with a 14 day push. This was my first time aid soloing with the edelrid pinch. It didn't feel a safe as the clove hitch but was much faster.

Weekly Question Thread (aka Friday New Climber Thread). ALL QUESTIONS GO HERE
Thank that's good advice! And it also goes for me because I am also a complete beginner and I guess learning on a regular grigri is safer than getting used to the anti-panic. After all, I guess it's better to find anti-panic when you don't expect it and get a bit annoyed than to expect it but not fi

Anybody using Beal Birdie for lead climbing? What’s your thoughts?
I might try the neox at some point , I think one of my gym acquaintances uses it, I will ask to borrow next time I think the Edelrid Pinch only locks up when you hold the dead rope, right? I am looking for assisted breaking for when I get knocked out or injured etc when I cannot hold the dead end. W
