Adam a7v vs Genelec 8340A, or something else?

About 25 years ago I had to work for 6 weeks in a facility that used dynaudios right the way through. They felt a bit odd to start with after my Genelec 1032s I'd been using the past few years.I eventually got so used to them I bought my own, dynaudio BM6A - and never looked back. They staged better

Near-field studio monitors suggestions

If you haven't listened to some already, have a try of the mid-range dynaudio. I have a pair of (quite old now) BM6A, which I much prefer to my earlier Genelec 1032. They just make portable mixes.

Do you guys mix with headphones or the music playing out the speakers?

I'm probably going to get some grief from the younger crowd on this, but after 40 years of engineering, I still don't care what a headphone mix sounds like, because it can never sound as intended. The soundfield is all wrong. You can listen right through any mixing element to pick out the detail you

my little setup for soul

You’re not the first one to say that, everyone is very meticulous 😄. Actually, this is a temporary space with really problematic acoustics, and I just can’t get my Dynaudio BM6A properly set up for it.

Studio Setup (hardware recommendations and organisation advice needed)

8020 are bigger (and louder), so more expensive. They cover a wider freq range to the lows - but both do a great job of presenting information below 100hz to some degree. I have a set of the 8010's, and rely on them quite a bit. If I need more volume or lower-end information I switch to my dynaudio

KRK Rokkits Died and I'm done (looking for new monitors) 2k budget

Dynaudio all the way. BM6A. Solid drivers and more clarity than anything at that price. I have them and love the sound.

Monitors (around $1000) best for accurate mixing?

I have really enjoyed my Dynaudio BM6A's, I'm still an intermediate level producer and mixer but I can say after going from budget monitors to these, I definitely started making stuff that sounded better. I do have acoustic treatment in my room, some primacoustic panels and some there were made by a

Audio interfaces: What matters and when

Beware online user complaints of gear being noisy. Most issues are from domestic users with dodgy laptops & buzzy power supplies. In the 80s I worked real pro studios, where everything 'just worked' because millions were spent on them.In the 90s I moved over to a major instrument manufacturer, & agai

Studio hardware and set up for small room

The room size you are describing is extremely small..No matter what monitors you put in there, you will most likely have a big problem controlling the low frequencies. Try to pre calculate the ratios of the room and if possible see if you can change some of the dimension to fall in a more naturally

Upgrading to a more serious pair of monitors

I would seriously consider the Dynaudio bm6A - these produce upto 116 db and go down to low frequencies too, even without subs, The Focal sm9 or modern equivalent is another worth looking at Others have discussed the importance of measurement tools, and looking at the picture looks like you could do
