Can someone explain why 2k$+ laptop feels like a cheap plastic toy?
My daily use laptop is a Dell XPS 15 7590. Bought it in 2021 and barely used it for years until I got a job that required a laptop. Popped some fresh 16gb (32 total) sticks of ram, a 1tb ssd with a fresh custom windows 11 install. Besides the screen, it’s just as good as any modern laptop under $150

Upgrade RAM in my Dell XPS 15 9530 or upgrade to a Surface Laptop 7?
Both make their own memory chips/ICs, so they’re just as good as each other. This Crucial kit here looks to be your best bet (fairly inexpensive, yet with moderate speed at a JEDEC rating..) You might also want to take a look at the service manual for your machine as well..
