Selecting a laptop!
When I was starting school I used a refurbished macbook. While it wasn't perfect, it was nice to not have spent a small fortune on a computer before I really understood what I needed from a laptop. I ended up buying a much more powerful (and expensive) PC laptop (Dell XPS in 2019) towards the end of

Everyone thinks are big, hot, clunky, loud, and have shit battery life. In reality as long as you look beyond just specs, watch revie

What should I get? I do engineering so theres a lot of CAD and plus I want it long term
For CAD go for a P series with a discrete GPU. Or an HP ZBook, Dell XPS or Precision.Make sure they are the models with a separate GPU.

Does the XPS 15 9350 support external GPU?
Regardless if you're talking about the 9530 or the 9350, most "recent" Intel CPU boards have TB3 or higher, so as long as you have that you will run a USB powered eGPU fine. If you're an art major I might consider something like the Surface Pro. With the keyboard case it's a pretty good laptop that's also a pretty decent art tablet with the Surface Pen. That's if your art is drawing and that sort of thing. If you're looking for a laptop that will render video and 3D mod
