Is this a good setup for my server?
Since you mentioned it’s mainly for media streaming. Get an intel gpu with integrated graphics over any AMD chip. Quicksync will benefit you so much, AMD (even dGPU’s) are much worse than Intel’s iGPU. If you ever plan on expanding with say immich, the argument would even be enhanced. I would recomm

Box for OPNSense use. I'm a doubter.
I went with CWWK Mini PC N100 Firewall Hardware 2 x 10GbE SFP+, 2 x i226V 2.5GbE LAN. I had to add my own SSD and RAM, but both of which I had lying around anyway, so it was put to use. I have a 2 gig fiber connection, and it never bottlenecks it. Not doing a whole lot with it, just some VPN and dyn

Is this a good setup for my server?
No, it's still a NAS. What you would be building is a NAS. SAS is a different type of connection capable of higher speeds, 12GB/s whilst SATA is 6GB/s. Now in a NAS, you're not going to notice this, at all. It's simply the protocol. An SAS HBA (Host Bus Adapter) would simply allow the use of cheaper

Raspberry Pi 5 Rack Server
I have 5xHDDs, 4xSSD, and 1xM.2 connected to this N100 board. I have this USBC card in it and this M.2 SATA adapter in it. I stuffed it all into a Jonsbo N2 (pic), but you could put it in any old pc case. You could swap the USB card for a SATA card and get all of your drives connected. A $163 ITX bo

How do we feel about a N100 for a NAS?
The N100 is a great platform. I've had a few variants and I am a fan of the CWWK CW-NAS-ADLN-K. I think the sacrifice of 2 NICs in preference for a real x4 PCIe slot is a good call. Also being this is a Gen2 board, it moved from a JMB585 to ASM1166 SATA controller with helps dramatically with power

VyOS hardware recommendations for high routing performance
its probably a good question to ask specifically what you are aiming for / chasing? because some of thes are a bit contradictory and overspecced the n100 / n150 / n305 etc setups are great for power efficiency and using them as routers / firewalls is great in general but from what you've suggested i

So I bought the CWWK N100 purple mobo... What cooler should I buy?
Hello, I did not really know what to expect of the N100 in terms of thermal dissipation so to be on the safe side I went for the Noctua instead of the passive cooling. Now, the Noctua is really really, really quiet. I set it to spin at ~1,100 rpm (35%) and honestly I cannot hear it. So in terms of n
