It finally came in. Was able to upgrade the ram to 32 gb and the ssd to 1 tb, but a bit annoyed that my thinkpad actually came with the nvme adapter so might upgrade to nvme down the line. I wasn't if nvme or ssd on the listing since it just said ssd, but was able to install everything just fine. St

It’s not only RAM, it’s also SSD. I’ve bought a bunch of Crucial BX500 a week ago. They were the cheapest by far. They’re also solid, I’ve been running some for like 2 years.

I would suggest either Crucial MX500 or Samsung Evo 870 or higher, and if money is a concern, get the BX500.

Closest I got was Amazon sending me an extra SSD (5 instead of 4) but even that backfired since they ended up being worthless. Related note: Don't buy Crucial BX500 4TB drives.

Good SATA SSDs with DRAM are dying out. SATA SSDs cannot use HMB, so DRAMless SATA SSDs are hit particularly hard. Crucial discontinued their MX500. Their only remaining SATA SSD is the BX500, a DRAMless and sometimes QLC nightmare. WD has removed the DRAM from their WB BLUE, Sandisk had done the sa

go buy a BX500 from crucial (while you can I guess?) absolute shit speeds, like literally pen drive speeds (<10MB/s) after you copy 100GB or so to it
