Thanks for the additional perspective. I though it might be a particular problem with the Coways, because I didn't notice a smell from the Winix 5510, and the smell from from the BlueAir Signature was faint; but I had noticeable issues with both models of Coways I had tried.

Do not buy Mila. Their reliability/build quality is terrible and customer support is bad. See my comment here for other complaints.
